Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 9, 2022
Published: Dec. 9, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Boeser, Brock
Additional Details:
Both teams take a gamble on players making equally money that are in need of a scenery change.

Parayko undoubtedly plays the more valuable position, but his contract carries a lot more risk than Boesers.
2.
VAN
  1. Zaitsev, Nikita
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
This deal was rumoured a while back. Myers is MUCH better than Zaitsev so Ott adds a pick.
3.
VAN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NJD)
PIT
  1. Garland, Conor
Additional Details:
Cap space and IDK, seems like something pitt would do
4.
VAN
  1. Morrow, Scott [Reserve List]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (CAR)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Horvat, Bo ($2,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Bo's gotta go somewhere for something
5.
LAK
  1. Podkolzin, Vasily
  2. Rathbone, Jack
Additional Details:
I dunno I'm running out of steam here but these are 2 guys I think the Canucks should move on from while they still have shine as prospects.

Man, You Nucks fans have been very generous to the Pens as of late. It's a nice 180 from all the terrible Marino trades lol.

NTC Parayko says no to Vancouver. Don't know if Sens can afford the cap difference. Almost giving Garland away...at least on the ice value, but maybe the long term cap is the reason.
Going to be interesting for Horvat's value. Depends on how may teams are looking for a rental centre. Seems like a steep price to me.

Parayko and Zaitsevs NTC's make the trades difficult. I haven't looked at Ott's situation but I'm sure they could squeeze out a mil.

Long term cap is definitely the reason for Garland. Many Canuck fans will disagree but I really don't think he brings much to the team, and that extra almost 5mil in the year Petterson expires is worth taking a hit for on ice value.

Imo the bare minimum for Horvat is a first and a prospect. Thats what Giroux got and he could effectively only be traded to one team.

Parayko doesn;t need a change of scenery (not even sure how you got that idea), and even if he did this offer is laughable.

I've seen folks on your subreddit suggest you would have to attach late-round picks to move him.

I wonder if teams would (didn't shouldn't) give up good futures for rental. Rarely makes any difference. Horvat's shooting percentage is abnormally high this season and almost half his points are on the PP. We'll see if his good /very good season can continue..

I'm not a fan personally of giving up big assets for rentals but teams do it every year so we will see.

Blues decline. Why would we make our defense worse? If we are trading Parayko it will be for picks and prospects and signal a complete 3-5 year rebuild, in which case getting Boeser does nothing for us.

I was insightful the first couple dozen times with this trade scenario. Now I'm just succinct. That's all I got at this point.

Carolina tells you firmly to get lost. Morrow is untouchable, even for an extended Bo Horvat. He was untouchable for Miller, is untouchable for Horvat, Garland, Schenn, Hoglander, whatever else. There's not a Canuck the Canes would be content moving Morrow for. A 1st and a 2nd for Morrow half retained? Maybe that makes sense for Carolina. You're unlikely to get anything more from the Canes. Feel free to find a new team to dump him on because the Canes have bigger holes than 3C and that is what Horvat would address.

Those people are delusional idiots. Anybody who'd say that doesn't have a clue. And yes, our fan base is riddled with such people.

Parayko's contract is terrible. 2nd pair defensemen shouldn't cost 6.5M against the cap. You're out of your mind if you think he's a positive asset at all

Blues would be wise to relieve themselves of that Parayko deal if they get the chance to

IF we wanted to get rid of it we would trade him for picks and prospects and a 1-2 year cap dump. Not a roster player who we don't need

Absolutely not, scarifice our number 1 dman for a 2nd pairing scoring winger not at all

Maybe Schenn, Boeser retained down to 4 mil and garland for Parakyo May work but without picks going to Stl I doubt it

No

Ottawa is not adding 1.5 AAV while giving up a 2nd for a lateral movement at the very best. The only threat is their GM sometimes has no idea what he is doing

I don’t really like this trade, but you both have your heads in the sand if you don’t acknowledge that Parayko is a shell of his former self, and the Blues have a lot of undesirable contracts on their hands

I never said that, yea I don’t think he’s as good as he was but he’s still our number one Dman

Regardless of what people think of Parayko's play (and I never said they were always wrong, but they are sure overwrought routinely), there's other elements at play. How do you replace him? What does that cost? Meanwhile, Boeser's good and all, but he's not really a need and he costs more than Parayko. Any way you slice it, he doesn;t "need a change of scenery" - he needs a proper partner instead of the human brain nap that is Leddy.
