As nice as Toews would be, if the ask is the first in 23, the Jets should just say no.

Probably costs a 1st + Stanley or another Top Prospect + a 2nd for retention and CHI takes back a Roster Player for Cap Reasons

Problem is, I'm not so sure Stanley is a good fit given the hawks have a logjam of defensive prospects and very young players on the left. A late 1st and a decent prospect should get it done.

I believe the 2nd (TBL) and 3rd (WPG) aren’t needed for the trade to get done. I’m willing to offer up the 4th as extra retention bait for a third party but not interested in swapping many other picks.

Jesus **** no. No need to pay that price for a few months of a aging 3C.

I like the idea of bringing Towes into the fold. He is a sturdy vet with cup and playoff experience. Perfect fit for the 3rd line especailly with guys like Lowry and Appleton. That make a great defensive forward group. Lots of good back checking and faceoff wins that can chip in with a few points. All that expeirence brought in but no pressure on him to score. We do need another 2nd/3rd line forward to roud out the group. So I don't mind seeing Samberg or Stanley as well as a mid round pick sent off for a rental. But I hope Chevy doesnt get to crazy and let Lambert, Heniola or Mcgurty go for rentals. Top prospects and picks for longer term players.
