Quoting: Buffalove
Even if u wanna consider Olofsson just a PP specialist,
he’s still on pace for over 35goals
Also, Olofsson is quite likely to produce at 5v5 playing on a line with Matthews
And they’d be getting him at a Cap hit under $2.4mil
That’s a steal all right- for them!
A late 1st really isn’t that big of a deal, especially for us with three 2nds this year
He’ll produce some points, but if he’s playing on Toronto’s top line, he will drag that line down. He plays on the perimeter and he’s a major defensive liability.
On that top line, he’s going to also draw the opponents top competition defensively at 5 on 5. He’s doesn’t get that in Buffalo playing in the bottom six. That’s why he plays there and why he’s been surpassed by the kids on this roster
If Olafsson was legitimately a top line forward, he would be one in Buffalo, but he’s just as much of a 5 on 5 black hole as Mittelstadt, and him playing big even strength minutes doesn’t work. That’s why he hasn’t done it here at this point.. He’s a specialist plain and simple. If you’re looking for a big shot on the power play, or a decent second line winger with a good shot he’s your guy. If you need someone defensively responsible, with good two way skills, and have a positive impact on the game offensive and defensive, that’s not him.
So if a team is offering me a first round pick for Olafsson, I’m taking that easily because that is a gross overpayment. I would be thrilled with a second rounder and a B prospect or depth D man
