Posted a Sheary deal a few days ago.

See the fit on the second line. Moving a 2nd for a 3rd liner is pricey.

Either sheary or domi would be nice. Also acciari was allegedly of interest to Dubas in the off-season, so if St. Louis keeps sucking, u can bet he’ll go for him

you can hate on the leafs for no reason but that's not true. Both are fringe NHLers, bouncing from AHL to NHL, who are paid as such.

I don't "HATE" on the leafs I just don't think either is a " fringe NHL" both now are fringe ECHL players Simmonds only function now really is punching someone in the face. Anderson isn't even really good for that.

ok sure. Joey Anderson is a younger player who has 19 points in 21 AHL games this season (a hockeydb search before bashing players wouldn't hurt). Played on the 3rd line for the Leafs last night, and Keefe's comments were that he was so impressed that he's going to give him an extended look with the team. So, as of now, a fringe NHLer, who will probably bounce up and down from the AHL but is an option to play with the Leafs.

Simmonds is a veteran forward who, yea, is probably mostly only useful for the physical stuff now. That's primarily where his value is. He doesn't play many games for the Leafs unless it's a heavyweight team or there are many injuries. So, again, fringe NHLer - plays some games, but certainly not all.

Neither of those players have played an ECHL game in their careers.

I said in the trade that we just needed to trade 2 players to get enough contract slots, so the players don't need to go the St. Louis. The trade is essentially an early 3rd for Acciari, which I feel like is fair considering that last year Johan Larsson got the same thing for basically the same production Acciari is on.

🙄Ok there talent level is still just ECHL at best have a nice life.
If you think talent wise Simmonds RIGHT NOW is more than an ECHL player you are completely delusional.

I can see him on the 2nd line, but I don't know, Jarnkrok has looked really solid on the 2nd like. Also, last year our 3rd like was Mikheyev-Kampf-Engvall. This line worked really well and I feel like Sheary can provide the same speed and defensive capabilities we seem to be missing from Mikheyev leaving.

simmonds is probably an AHL talent at this point that brings the physical aspects should we absolutely need it. He can still play in NHL games, but you'd need to have some better options ahead of him on the depth chart. He's not ECHL, he played 72 games last season. He lost his locked spot this year, that doesn't make him ECHL. Most leaf fans on here probably know i'm one of the more critical leafs fans of simmonds and have been for years. He has no business in a healthy lineup unless you desperately need to play him for 3-5 mins in a night to fight and hit. But at this point he's a depth option - you should have several players above him in the depth chart, but you can play him in the NHL.

Its also literally not possible to be a cap dump at 900k when you can bury that full amount in the AHL at no cap cost.

I consider it fringe NHL, depth option calibre minutes. He shouldn't have been a regular last year, I agree. Should be the 15th/16th/17th ish option up front. But injuries happen, and he can step in on the 4th line if needed as a depth option that won't play all, or even many games, but is available as depth.

No not really they're both getting rid of unwanted (basically useless ) players. You don't dump useful players for either reason

except one counts against the cap? Much different, you can't honestly believe that a contract slot and cap space can be talked about interchangeably
