He’d still cost a fair amount — he’s a top-5 pick, had a 30-point season last year, and he’s a warm body on the roster

I honestly could see him as a great fit for any contender, a lot of untapped potential. It may sound insane but I could see him getting 50+ points as a top 6 LW on a contender

Does he bring more to the Leafs than Kerfoot? That's what you need to really consider here. Scoring is a big deal to a lot of people on here but defensive play and penalty kill need to get harder consideration by ACGM fans. Kerfoot is a dynamite PK player. I'm not willing to give him up for someone who may or may not become a top 9 player.

He's 22, literally makes less than $2M for the next two seasons, was drafted 5th overall fora reason, and can play that power forward game, AND plays in Arizona with no talent and is on a line with guys like Liam O'Brien. A lot of untapped potential

As for Kerfoot, he could PK but so can guys like Joey Anderson or Alex Steeves making league min or anyone with that defensive mindset. Outside of his PK, he literally has shown us nothing this season. Matter of fact, we missed Engvall a lot more than what was expected against the Flames, we still gave up 4 goals with Kerfoot on this team

he would be a downgrade on today's roster for Kerfoot which is a non-starter, then you'd probably have to pay up to a point where you may as well keep your picks/prospects because AZ has no incentive to give up on him. This would be something you could revisit in the offseason *maybe* but not an in-season move.

Anyone is an upgrade over Alex Kerfoot, an overpaid $3.5M winger that is soft and can't do anything right. Will he even be in the league next season when his contract is up in Toronto?

Way to show your true colors. Kerfoot is a good player

You mean when there was a 4 on 1 play against Dallas and he decided to just shoot the puck right at the goalies chest rather than making a smart play? Yah no one is going to give him more than league min after this season

He's a good player, not playing great right now. Both can be true.

He was never a good player, especially when we traded Kadri for him

Hayton is damn near the perfect type of player for a middle six center. He wins face offs, is a responsible 2-way center, can go net front and has good hands. He will be consistent 30-50 point per season player on any team. That is incredibly desirable to GMs and costing sub 2MM adds additional value. I do not expect the Coyotes to part ways with him in the next 2 years and when they do teams will have to overpay. possibly even a 1st and good prospect overpay if a team out there is desperate. GM Bill Armstrong has shown over and over that he will get his price or walk from a trade, I expect this will continue.

Bill Armstrong is an amazing GM, doesn't get pushed around in trade talks and gets what he wants. It will definitely be an overpay if someone wants him

Are you really going to let your bias blind you when you can see he had a great season last year?
