we should absolutely undercut vegas for that deal. that's probably why the story was leaked. we can even give them the rights to cal petersen as a kicker if he is insistent on waiting 30 days. he's from waterloo and grew up playing in chicago some as i recall so it might add to the deal.

Chicago probably says yes to that deal. Can re-sign Jurco and/or Rasmussen to cheap 1 year deals, and expose one of the two with Tootoo to meet requirement (Roszival already covers the D requirement).

Vegas then forced into taking a very replaceable guy in Jurco or Rasmussen while Hawks are getting back value for the players who actually have some.

I have to say, a Rasmussen, Tootoo, Roszival, Glass exposure list would have to be one of Vegas's worst options.

Just asking input as to what people think of Van Riemsdyk's game and potential. Where do people see him a top pair or 2nd pair D?

He isn't a Top Pair D. He is certainly a serviceable 2nd pairing Dman at this point of his career, and I do think he'll improve in his own zone and find a permanent spot on a 2nd pairing. But right now, he is a reliable bottom pairing defenseman that you can trust more than most #5/#6's

TVR is a middle of the road 2nd pair D right now. His biggest asset is his contract. He's still cost controlled. I could see him re-signing after next year for like 3 years 3.5per year so you only buy 2 years of UFA. He might not be a long term part of the "plan" but the assets you're giving up to get him by no means are of super high value so it makes a lot of sense for a BUF perspective
