Right…..soooo rebuilding. I don’t think this team needs to reconstruct two thirds of their top line

I'm a fan of Coyle, but I can't see Carter waiving his full NMC. He was hesitant to even waive out of LA to begin with because he didn't want to move his family, so I can't see him doing it again at this point in his career.

I'm honestly not sure how any of this is rebuilding.

Trading away futures for rentals is quite literally the opposite of rebuilding.

I don't think he understands how rebuilding works.

honestly i just found a cheap(er) center on the pens to replace coyle to get under cap since coyle kept them over cap...so it could be someone other than carter...just the first cheap(er) center i found(that's actually decent and not young bc a young center would cost more than the bruins have for the young center probably)

This would be a lot of throwing away assets for no good reason on BOS's part. They look like the most complete team in the NHL up to this point in the season. If anything, they go after affordable depth that won't cost them much, but even that is probably a stretch.

Alright well that’s not what i meant, but i get how you got there.

The boston bruins are not i need of a major reconstruction.

Is it? I don’t even know. I know how strong their current top six is. It works.

I'm just talking about the logic here. I don't think most of this makes sense. Sending out so many futures for one run isn't great asset management. Maybe for ONE of Tarasenko or Kane? Ok.

Playing Devil's Advocate, those lines don't have to be the lines. If Boston did pick up both Kane and Tarasenko, they now options for days on how to construct their lineup and roll three very deadly lines.

Not to shoot this down again, but the Pens are up against the cap. If you're going to send a contract like Coyle to the Pens you'll need to take back comparable salary.

Now, if Blueger was the C you identified, I can promise you the Pens would never make that deal.

Sure, to go the other way playing devils advocate, there’s really no guarantee here the bruins get better. On paper doesn’t necessarily translate to on ice. all four of the bruins lines are buzzing right now. Any way you shake it, this changes all four of the lines. Moving debrusk off first line RW? Well, he’s second on the team in points behind pastrnak. It’s working up there. Would he work on the third line? Who knows. Moving Marchand from the first line LW? He’s only been arguably the best LW in the league the last five years. Shipping out Coyle - the third line of Hall - Coyle - Frederic has been dynamic. All three are involved in basically every area of the game and they aren’t losing many shifts. Swapping in Jeff Carter to the fourth line doesn’t exactly fill a need. Nosek has done what they need him to do there.

Maybe this team is absolutely dynamic. But what if Bergeron and Kane doesn’t mesh, and Debrusk on the third line just doesn’t work? Then two lines have been Torpedoed. What if the loss of Coyle has a big impact on the PK. Now there’s defensive woes.

Better option in my opinion - keep the team that’s running through the league.

Oh for crying out loud. Of course this isn’t the typical long term rebuild. They’re buying, not selling. Duh.
But it’s taking the first place team in the NHL and totally reconstructing it. Bad idea.

Okay, well the Blues have zero interest in Foligno and pushing the 1st back to 2025 is a non-starter. So you'd be waaaaaaay off on that trade even if the retention wasn't there.

IMO, what you really should do is trade for Corey Perry. The guy has lost back to back to back stanley cups. Boston is so stacked right now that I would be shocked if any other team wins the cup. So I really want to find out just how cursed Perry is
