I don't get why Chicago would throw in picks to this. Kaut essentially has zero value since he just went unclaimed on waivers, so I imagine this is an easy no from them

Yeah, was wondering what the logic of thinking Chicago would give up Toews 50% retained while giving up a 2nd rounder and a very early 3rd rounder to get a late 1st rounder, a guy who was on waivers and a former 7th round draft pick

Drop Kaut / Leivermann and the picks heading to COL and the Hawks consider it for sure.

Sending picks back is the only way the hawks will get a 1st for Toews and 50% retention is going to be needed to move him anywhere. It doesn't carry over so it has little value.

Then trade for another better than Toews center.... Cause Toews w/retention will fetch a late first and probably a mid player/prospect. Let alone taking a dumped player.

you have to score more often than once in a month to be worth a 1st+

Probably reasonable if you drop that 2nd round pick coming from Chicago.

I’ve never been a J Toews fan (even in his prime), but he’s a player where I can see a framework making sense for Colorado.

I mean it's kinda funny that you can make a statement like this and just last year Copp got a 1st, 2nd, 5th, AND a prospect...as a rental...and he has 3 goals in 3 months. Toews has 9 goals too...not once a month...

Ain't that something. He turned it on later in the year but at this point he isn't far off of Toews. I still don't think Toews gets a 1st, but I would drop the 2nd rounder. Kaut would thrive in any system other than the Avs, Bolts and Devils.
Toews had a hot start, In the last two months he's gotten a goal a month
