Description
Re-sign Pettersson to an 8 year extension with a cap hit around 10M-11M.

Sell some of the expiring contracts (Mantha, Pearson, Myers, Barrie, etc.) depending on the market. Pump up Mantha's value by playing him on the top line and then selling. Re-evaluate a Boeser trade if something comes up during the season or next offseason but keep him until then.

Toronto won't give up Niemla for Horvat. Niemla is gonna be a top 2 D in the next 2-3 years. Could even have more value that Horvat who is either a rental or a future cap dump

You expect to contend with three 4th line centers behind Pettersson?

Seems like you're trying to retool on the fly.

There is just no way you think a B prospect is worth more than Horvat...

B prospect = Superstar potential prospect in Canuck land I guess.

Maybe you fools are confusing mid tier and superstar players which is why you keep giving mid tier players superstar money.

You're in lala land if you are hoping Niemala becomes a superstar. You posted his prospect page which just shows him underperforming right now... Never once on the PNHLer thing was he ever at superstar potential. Now he has dropped to below a second pair d man potential. I think it is time to wake up from your dream

To me that means you want to compete for a playoff spot next year.

Then why were you talking about winning a cup with this center group?

I'm saying with the direction you want to take the team it won't work with that center group.

Caps pass. Miller isn't worth his contract. They can use the money elsewhere.

Good to know that the roster for a single season is indicative of everything that happens after.

Did it occur to you that the centers could be upgraded over time?

Niemela is not going to be top anything in the next 2-3 lifetimes. He's a quality prospect but he doesn't walk on water. 0 chance he has move value than Horvat, that's an embarrassing take on your part. Even as a rental Horvat has more value to Leafland than Topi, and he won't be a cap dump either... figure it out.

A guy who is a 50/60 point guy having a good year in a contract year asking for over $8M isn't going to be a cap dump in a couple years.

    Were you born yesterday?

The cancuks management have half a brain and even they wouldn't offer him for than Nuge money ~$5.25M. someone is definely signing him for $8M this summer and paying a first or more to move him in 4/5 years.

None of this is really appealing for Washington. DC already has 3 quality centers (when Backstrom returns) and even without Backy Washington already has Strome and Kuznetsov down the middle, so no need to take on Miller’s large cap hit while shipping out a good winger piece in Mantha. There’s no space in DC for Rathbone on the left side, and the 2nd is not enough to make this trade work. Washington would decline fast here.
