I don’t think any team could absorb the hit to their system it would take to meet Arizona's price on both chychrun and veggie. It would require an absurd amount of futures

LA could throw in another 1st or prospect and still have cup final team for 3 years in a row

The Kings are not paying to dump Cal Petersen.

Turcotte is not B-level. If you want a B-level prospect, the Kings will be happy to give up one of Madden or Thomas.

This is a huge overpayment by the Kings.

Hard pass.

Cal Petersen is not totally washed (yet), he currently is holding a 0.939 save percentage with the Reign (who have made NHL starters out of: Martin Jones, Peter Budaj, and Jack Campbell)

If there is a reclamation team who can do it, it should be the team that developed him, not to mention the Kings goaltending situation might be more related to system and defense, as we have seen from Jon Quicks #s.

Chychrun would be an improvement on the Kings but with their excess of offensive defensemen and rollecoaster of play this season, does it make sense for the Kings to bet big?

The bigger issue is the Kings have too many offensive forwards, the signing of Moore makes me think the Arvidsson will not be reuped, and the assets returned from a trade of him will be the assets to improve at LD.

He has had debilitating injuries almost every season, no one believes his skill level is lacking 1st round talent, it's his injuries. There are countless articles that talk about this, don't just look up a stat sheet and say someone is worthless, this is the exact situation Vilardi was in until he broke out this season.

Enjoy the best AHL netminder for 4M on the cap and droppin out 1st round once more while 2 10M+ vets become older

Chych isn't an offensive Dman, he's a top 8 dman in the show on sweet deal

VA could be added to this and it still favors LA

He's missed a lot of development time with unrelated injuries (ankle, 2 concussions), and illnesses (mono, acute appendicitis). When he has been healthy, he has looked really good. His stock isn't as high as it was when he was drafted (injury issues are a concern), but it's laughable to say he's a B prospect. The Kings have no need to rush a decision on him, as he won't be waiver eligible for another 2 years. Gabe Vilardi's development took a similar trajectory and he's emerged as a top quality guy this season. No reason Turcotte can't do the same.

I'd give up a 1st + Turcotte + Walker for Chychrun and Hrenak + a 2nd round pick for Vejmelka (Goaltenders aren't worth a 1st round pick, in the draft or via trade, and that goes for guys like Shesterkin and Vasilevskiy too). Any more than that and Arizona is welcome to keep them.

Keep in mind the Kings are still a playoff team right now, with their 3rd string goalie they beat Boston last night. Even then, if the Kings make the playoffs this season, that's a bonus to me, this is house money. All I believe the Kings care about is developing the young players in their system to be a deep playoff team next season.

I don't think you understand where the Kings are exiting their rebuild, they have the pieces, they have a deep bench of prospects, and they are currently developing those players to replace those expensive vets (Quick after this season, Kopitar the season after that). In the short term, they have found Danault to replace Kopitars role, long-term would be Byfield. Clarke, Spence, and Durzi are candidates to eventually unseat Doughty. Petersen has been the heir apparent for Quick and is admittedly struggling, but that contract is there unless you pay a pretty penny to move him, and even then you haven't got the player to replace him. For the time being the Kings will hold Cal Petersen and bring him up once a more solid defense is in front of him (this might be one of our worst defenses in some time).

The point is, are the Kings winning a cup just by adding Vejmelka and Chychrun, heck no. So why make that move? Wait, and keep improving this team, and in particular move on from Cal once you are positive he is washed.
