I'm not seeing why we should be paying assets for a reclamation project/charity case with term on his contract.

Chycrhun would be a fun add. Fair trade I think. Maybe add a 3rd.
I don't think paying that much for a goalie is the way to go. Considering you have Levi in your system. I would ride it out with cheaper options. Vancouver considers that package for sure though!

I went high on the price to be conservative.

You're delusional if you think Ostlund is worth more than Demko

Vancouver doesn't consider that package at all. Replace Ostlund with Savoie or Levi, and maybe they think about it

Ostlund was the 16 overall pick this past year. Very good prospect. Of course Savoie was a bit higher and Levi has unheard goalie numbers f or the past few years. But Vancouver would be getting a 1st and a very good prospect.

...why in the world would we do that? Mittelstadt's a downgrade.

Demko is an ok goalie, he's not elite. You also clearly have no idea who Ostlund is

Eh, I’m quickly losing faith in whatever direction Rosy is going, and I feel most of the team is getting there as well. I don’t like Lars’ decision to bench him (among many, many other decisions), but with roster space at F only getting tighter with the young kids, time is running out for Rosy to develop some consistency.

Middlestadt has an equal PPG output in his career as Rosy. Two years younger, cheaper, has an extra year of control. Plus he’s a true C.

Maybe BUF throws in a mid-rounder or something; but, both teams can see if the player can benefit from a Change Of Scenery™️

Mittelstadt has never had a season anywhere what Roz managed when he first came here. And he's been playing wing lately, to the point that a couple sites have him listed at that position. (Sports Forecaster and Dobber Hockey. Potentially others; I didn't check every one.)

He’s always had C/RW listed as his position, at least at most sites I’ve seen (including this one).

And, no, Middlestadt has never had a run like the one Rosy has had in parts over the last two season.

But the problem is those runs came in parts. And they came in past seasons. If you isolate Rosy to his best 50 games, he’s amazing. Problem is, he’s got about 265 others worth of “meh,” and a lot more of those “mehs” are happening now. Take out his four-point game versus LAK, and he’s been completely forgettable. and that’s with him getting, on average, more ice time than guys like KJ, Chinny, Sillinger, Marchenko.

We’ve got enough guys needing T6 playing time that constantly forcing him into the T6 to elevate his play level is jsut using a spot in the lineup that should be going to one of the younger guys. Combine that with the benching and scratches, and it’s just starting to feel uncomfortable.

Maybe Middlestadt becomes nothing more than a 3C, but we’ve been constantly complaining about C depth being one of our biggest issues.

I don't disagree with your assessment; I just disagree with the conclusion that swapping him out with Mittlestadt is therefore a good or reasonable idea. I don't see Mittelstadt being useful at all, really. I haven't seen any signs that he has any better of a 200-foot game than Roslovic does, so when I look at that I think "we're swapping an inconsistent guy with occasional flashes of brilliance but poor hockey IQ and severe gaffes defensively for... the same thing, only without the flashes of brilliance."
