I don't even think isles would give a 2nd rd pick for oloffson . He's not what they need

Olofsson is a third liner who’s good on the pp that’s it I wouldn’t want him for a 1st

I would’ve said second liner, but I agree.

Yeah they need a high end winger and maybe one more left side d man with the Pelech injury.

65% of his points are even strength, and he's on pace for 30 goals

I think the Sabres have showed exactly how not to use him this year. He's not just a pp specialist, but he requires a decent two way center who can dish to set him up. If you have a middle 6 center who checks those boxes, good things happen. If you send him out with mittelstadt, bad things happen. But for sure, the power play specialist label expired probably three years ago.

I don't understand how Krebs hasnt earned a 3c spot yet, especially after the last couple of weeks, and with how good Asplund Krebs Olofsson played together. Krebs has been playing much better in the d zone and has been all over the ice when he gets a shift

The only way you will see Krebs with olofsson and asplund is if there's another injury/suspension in the top 6. If they are going to gift him line one time because of a suspension, he's going to be gifted the 3rd line center spot as soon as everybody is back. It's frustrating, can't fight city hall though.

He’s also shooting way higher than he should. 2nd lowest on the whole team for xGF/60 and is a bottom 5 defensive player on the team. If he can’t shoot he’s useless, he can’t drive play, is horrible defensively and is not physical whatsoever. He’s not worth anywhere near a first.

Olofsson is a good player but i would not put him in the "spend a 2023 1st rounder on him" pile. The Islanders haven't picked in the 1st round since 2019, and their farm system is typically ranked in the bottom quarter of the league. They really need to either keep the pick to rebuild the pipeline, or if they move it they have to have a no-doubt top line winger coming back.

He's really not that bad defensively, those numbers are overblown by bias. He's a sniper, he's there for his shot, idk why people act surprised that that's his role. Also his stats away from Mittlestadt are much better because Mittlestadt is a black hole that brings his line mates down.

He’s actually very bad defensively that’s what the analytics say. He doesn’t produce like a top 6 sniper should he’s a bottom 6 sniper who brings his linemates down by not being able to drive play and horrible defensive iq. Mittelstadt’s expected GF and xGA are both better than Olofsson so if anything it would be Olofsson negatively effecting Mittelstadts game.

I apologize, Olofsson still has a better x/GA and Mittlestadt gets more time on the PP with the 1st unit and his numbers are slightly above Olofsson in x/GF

You should use per 60 it is quite a bit better. Even strength Olofssons xGA/60 is 3.05 and Mittelstadt is 2.96. Olofsson does spend more time on the pp with the same amount of games I can’t believe someone who watches the Sabres so much as absolutely no idea what’s going on.

Olofsson has spent 14:30 minutes with Thompson Tuch and Skinner, 17:20 with any combination of those 3 including that 14:30. Mittlestadt has spent 16:49 with the 3 and 31:00 with any combination of those 3. Mittlestadt has nearly 2x the time with the 1st unit
