As I’ve said many times, trading Comtois for Puljujarvi for not make sense for the Ducks

both players need a change of scenery and both are open to trades. And yes 32 thoughts said on the pod Comtois told the ducks towards the end of last season he would be open to a fresh start elsewere

Comtois has value, JP does not
Ducks dont even consider such a move.

If he had value, he would have been traded a year ago, teams do not want JP and his contract. He does not have value right now. Friedman and Marek even said it on 32 thoughts, if he was making 1m less teams would be interested in him but at 3m, there is no market

Comtois in 21 games has 5 points..all goals on the season. JP in 32 games has 6 points 1 goal on the season. Dont act like one is leaps and bounds more productive than the other.

Im not a ducks fan, im not over rating anything here.

That's an immediate and easy "no" for the Jackets. The ask for Gavrikov is a mid-to-late 1st, but more importantly, More Wingers With Term are explicitly unwanted and turn any trade into a nonstarter unless excess compensation is given as though they are cap dumps, regardless of their skill level. This is because we have too many wingers as is and so get negative value out of adding more to the roster (we need the cap they take up for players at other positions).

Comtois is almost one year younger than Puljujarvi, is under team control for one more season, and his Qualifying Offer is 5/6 what Puljujravi's is. Moreover, in Puljujarvi's best year (2021-2022) he had 36 points in 65 games; Comtois had almost as many points in 55 games in HIS best year, and whereas we're only hoping for Comtois to get back to his previously-demonstrated level of performance, Puljujarvi has never fulfilled the hopes of HIS followers so far. We'll stick with Comtois, who seems much more invested in using his size than Puljujarvi.

Ducks are light at left wing, we're much deeper at right.

Comtois is 2/3 the AAV, and can finish goals at the NHL level. He may have said he was open last season because he in particular had a really rough year while the rest of the team was succeeding early. This year we are seeing him play much more like the guy who lead pts a couple seasons back. He has his mojo back. We had a lot of roster turnover this year and things are just now starting to click together.

I don't see a world in which Puljujarvi supplants Terry at 1RW, but there is a world where Comtois can play 1LW on the Ducks, because Henrique is gone after next season.

Pulljujarvi has been on McDavids wing for a large chunk of the season and still has only 1 goal and 6 pts.

I really like that trade for the hawks, so I accept on their behalf!
