If Knies or Niemela are the prospects that Leafs fans act like they are,
then there’s little chance of that deal going through

Toronto might be willing to give up one of Knies or Niemela but not both and there's no way Minnesota give up Faber for Boeser.

If Knies and one of the thirds is removed deals honestly fine

Knies is just to good rn and his potential is scary. Like they turned down a MAF and Bagel trade to keep him that's how much leafs management loves him

I’m sure that would be great for Leafs fans,
but then VAN fans would tell you no way

Also,
while Knies is a good prospect, he’s not a superstar or of top5 pick quality either
U guys are really overhyping this guy
To the point that you’re probably gonna be let down once he actually becomes a Leaf

The hype is probably more about potentially having a good player on an ELC who is a great fit in the top 6 rather than getting a superstar.

They already have 3 elite guys in their prime, so all the Leafs need him to be is a top 6 foward.

I'm sure there will be Leafs fans who are disappointed if he's not putting up amazing numbers and he might not turn out at all but that's not going to stop people from being excited about him or management overvaluing him/valuing him highly.

Will simplify it. Knies is a power forward like Hyman but with a better shot teams love those guys. Every scout who has watched him has said the same thing he is built for the NHL and has the potential to do some damage. Heck he chose to go back and improve his skating if it wasn't for that he would be in the NHL rn. If he becomes a similar player or better to what Hyman was that's all we need and if we look at Hyman he's pushing star level

Besides if u look at Knies resume he beats out so many prospects people deem superstar level anyways

Also Van fans were mostly posting Horvat ret for 1st + 3rd and Niemela lul

I worry about that a little yeah, but he won't disappoint. The kid has all the tools. Wouldn't have been a 1st rounder had it not been for the pandemic wrecking that draft.

I guess we’ll see
Just seems like Leaf’s fans are talking about this guy like it’s a forgone conclusion that he’ll be a superstar,
& it’s obviously way too early for that kinda talk

Well if Knies is *JUST* around Hyman level,
then he’s not the untouchable, can’t miss, superstar that MANY on here are making him out to be

Your assessment is reasonable
What I’m saying is that *A LOT* of the talk on here about him is not all that reasonable

He’s obviously a good prospect- i just think Leafs fans are really going overboard the way he’s discussed here

I don't think he'll be a super star, but he's going to be a good player that's for sure.

I never said Toronto wasn’t good at developing players,
and i never said Knies isn’t a good prospect

What i have said, repeatedly, is that Leafs fans are going way overboard in regards to this guy- and they are

Every fan base has those fans though. Look how many Canuck fans get mad when people call Schenn a depth defenceman.

Well sure
But I’ve see a lot of trade proposals the last couple months that involved Knies, and the response from 9/10 Leafs fans is just nutty

He's basically untouchable. His ceiling is a 1st like LW power forward. Extremely good skater, hits like a truck. 6'3" 200+ lbs and has soft hands to boot. The consensus on this site is the Leafs desperately need a power forward to make the top 6 work in the playoffs. I personally think a 3C who's great defensively and good offensively, is what we need (ROR all the way).

So swinging back, Knies is projected to be a perfect fit in our top 6. And if he hits, he's really going to add a major element to the team that is way way too expensive to acquire. They just have to see what he can be. The reward is just way too good if it works, so Knies is off the table.

That was incredibly long winded.

Lol
I get the excitement, but not all Goff prospects hit their ceiling- most don’t actually
So he could just end up being a decent-good middle6 player instead of the next “Tkachuk”
I appreciate that the discussion with you has been entirely reasonable- but that’s not usually how this goes 🤣🤣

I'd be lying if I said I haven't let loose a time or two but unfortunately there are some who have no interest in rational discussions.

As for Knies, one last thing. I think the reasonable expectation for him is a better Bunting. Bigger, Faster, and better hands. And if that's all he is, that's still great.

I’m no scout, but he seems like a middle6 guy to me
If the goal scoring translates, then he could be a good top6 guy
But it doesn’t always, so we’ll have to wait & see
