With Wheeler and Helly Hurt

Created by: AStovetop
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 20, 2022
Published: Dec. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Revised version of a trade I thought of a few weeks ago with WPG as a placeholder for any team interested in Barabanov. Makes even more sense now with WPG now that Helly and Wheeler are injured.

May look like a big return but Barabanov has another year after this at 1.75 cap hit (if SJ retains 750k) who is on pace for 55-60 pts. Him by himself is likely in the Blake Coleman range of value/return if not a bit more.

Reimer has been very solid and is more than capable of holding down the fort until Helly gets healthy, and will be very valuable as a backup with Rittich having ok numbers but not starting goaltender numbers. The condition the 2nd is fairly unlikely to happen, and if it does, then that means they've gotten significant value to justify the upgrade.

Megna is just a reliable d-man who ca be paired on any pairing. Plays a lot with EK in SJ. Also has another year after this at 750k. Not going to blow you away, but wont make you want to drop kick you TV either like some d-men

Hellebuyck isn't hurt though...just out with an illness (non-covid) and should be back in this road trip.

While I am sure these are all good players on the Sharks team. None of these guys would have a spot on the Jets or even make the Jets better. Like Rooney said. Helle will probably just be out for tonight's game and Ehlers and Wheeler will be back in a couple of 3 weeks. We will then need to put guys on waivers. This is also a big ask for a bunch of spare parts. As of right now, I don't think the Jets need to make any moves.

Great attempt though.

Not that's they are bad players coming from San Jose, but none are worth the Jets moving their first for.

Barabanov and Reimer are by no means “spare parts” Barabanov is on pace for 60 points with a $2.5 mil cap hit this year and next. And Reimer has been solid as a shark

I hear what you are saying and I wasn't trying to put down his attempt, but on the Jets they would be. Not that they are horrible. They are just not better than what the Jets already have. Which in turn makes them "spare parts". They are very good players on a very bad team. I won't deny that. They just don't make the Jets better.

not sure about usefulness on the Jets but this trade would probably be more fair if the 23' 1st drops to a 2nd.
Barb is probably worth more than a 2nd now but he used to be around that. Reimer is 2nd or 3rd. Megna is 4th or 5th. All together I don't think the quantity makes a 1st, but I guess weirder things have happened
