Different Idea - Hayes

Created by: Trader0909
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 20, 2022
Published: Dec. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Almost identical cap hits, what would either team need to add? Haven’t seen this trade idea yet. This is about exchanging problems to see if they can improve on a new team.

Only a $20k difference in cal hit.

Could make this a bigger trade with Hayes / OEL or Boeser / Provorov being the core pieces

You can be sure Boston native Hayes doesn't have Canucks on his trade list.

Tough to know, maybe he likes the city and hates Torts, if he wanted out (not saying he does) his contract is brutal and might want a trade to anywhere to get away from Torts

Torts? He's just waiting to get fired, get his NHL money on his contract, then go back into the easy job of broadcaster and he can tell the world how smart he is. Seems to his MO for the past decade and more.

I think Provorov is far better than OEL and completely wrecks that deal, and is a no go for PHI. While Hayes contract is bad, OEL's is the same level bad.

Horvat as a UFA for Hayes is not far off, and if PHI adds a quality prospect (Egor Zamula, Jay OBrien, Wade Allison, Desnoyers), I think thats pretty close.

But I think the Hayes-Torts thing is blown out of proportion a bit.

This looks quite awful for the Flyers.
Hayes is a fair bit better than Boeser and Provorov is an order of magnitude better than OEL.
The cap implications of this deal puts the Flyers in a much worse position in terms of flexibility for a significant amount of time.
