Jets Cup run

Created by: Sssss19
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 21, 2022
Published: Dec. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. 2023 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Jets get some cap space to make more moves
CBJ
  1. Schmidt, Nate ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
If gavrikov gets dealt at the deadline this could be a decent pickup for Columbus. Plays in their top 4. Has flexibility so they can play him on the right side or left. And great puck mover so it he’d be a good fit for there power play His contract is a little much but jets can retain a little
2.
WPG
  1. Barbashev, Ivan
Additional Details:
Perfect fit for the Jets 3rd line. Adds some scoring depth and hard forechecking which is needed in the playoffs And he can play up and down the lineup in all situations. Could be a player like Hagel was for Tampa in the ploffs last year
STL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (WPG)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (WPG)
3.
WPG
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
A double retention to Arizona for a 4th rounder

Jets get a older toews but he’s proving this year he can still put up decent numbers and will help the jets a lot in the ploffs He can be a great 2nd/3rd line guy for the jets
CHI
  1. Appleton, Mason
  2. Reichel, Kristian
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Chicago gets 2 young bottom 6 guys and a 2nd rounder that will contribute to there rebuild
4.
WPG
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
The biggest move of the deadline. I’ve never really thought the jets could get him but seeing lots of these mock trades to the jets. Chychrun would be an insane pickup for the jets Him and morrissey could be an insane pairing together. Or have them split up and the jets d core could be among the best with an addition like this. Another guy that the jets could take a look at is klingberg instead of chychrun
ARI
  1. Heinola, Ville
  2. Lucius, Chaz
  3. 2023 1st round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Az gets 2 young former 1st round picks that have great potential and anther 1st round pick that would probably be a later pick

The Jets have no incentive to consider any of these except maybe the St. Louis one with how they are playing.

I agree with u but I think Chevy is gonns be forced to make some moves to keep up with other teams that will be bringing guys in and also the jets only I have 2 years to really push for a cup before Hellebuyck and scheifs and dubois contracts are up so I think this year they’ll have to go all in

Not sure what the point of the Schmidt trade is. Why are you retaining when the idea is to clear cap? And why is Columbus paying you for the privilege of taking your cap dump?

That Toews offer is pitiful... a 2025 2nd is useless to the rebuild, and don't need more bottom 6 players, they have enough.

Think about how you would feel getting an offer for your captain like this.

*Davidson just quietly hangs up.*

But teams don't subtract from the lineup or make huge trades when they are playing well.

That's way too much to pay for Chychrun to play on the second pair when the Jets left side is fine. Too much for Toews to play in the bottom 6, if he isn't injured. Plus the Jets have no reason to give Schmidt away for nothing.

It's far more likely the Jets make a minor depth move or two at the TDL than make major roster changes when they are playing well.

Schmidt trade is useless. WPG will have plenty cap space by the deadline or even before once everyone's healthy and no way Chevy retains anything for multiple years.

Everyone should get off the Toews train. He doesn't bring anything to WPG other than a feel good hometown hero story. He'll cost too much or require too many moves to acquire. If he wants to play in Winnipeg, he can sign in the offseason when we might actually need him.

WPG needs a top 6 addition and maybe a veteran D presence. Everything else is fluff.

Because Schmidt isn't strictly a cap dump - if Gav doesn't extend he would actually probably fit remarkably well.

I wouldn’t trade Lucius in case Dubois’ mind is made up and he for sure wants to leave because I don’t think then there’s another valid replacement.
