I mean if you want to add Sharangovich and Severson I'm not going to stop you but this is probably a pretty fair deal

Scoring goals isn't your issue. Letting them in is. You need a goalie.

New Jersey is ranked 3rd in the league in goals against this year. They aren't letting in goals. What made you come up with this terrible theory?

Vanecek and Schmid are fine. They’ll be able to carry the load. And if Schmid’s play this year is any indication, he will be the number 1 shortly

Oh, and GAA means nothing. NJ's sv% is 13th in the league.

Vanacek is decent back-up. He overachieved in November and he's regressing to the norm. Schmid has played 8 games and also overachieved in November, .953 and for December he's posted a .915. That's a hard fast fall. Not saying I have any idea on his potential, but the trending issue with your team right now is goaltending. I also saw our shots for the last five games. You only allowed 20 last night and four games before that have been a very reasonable number.

I'll drop some more stats...

The last seven games you've won the possession game in each game as well as the High Danger control of the game. You have the 2nd lowest shots agains. You're #9 in scoring.

Defense? Great
Offense? Good

It's clear that goaltending is the issue.

Sharks don't have a need for a goalie. Swap Blackwood with Sharangovich and you have a deal.

Timo is a shooting machine and isn't afraid to crash the net. He will get you goals and offense aplenty. Grier is likely going to keep him though.

Goaltending isn't a problem, nor is it a strength. Its better than last year but not good enough to carry the team

I would say the big problem is physicality. Palat and Bastian out for a while made the Devils soft to play against

Nah it's definitely goaltending. No offensive or defensive production metric has fallen off significantly over the losing streak, but our PDO (sh% + sv%) is in the pits. We're getting goalied on both ends, just like the first two games. Vanecek and Blackwood are both wildly inconsistent and average at best, Schmid and Daws aren't ready. We need consistency now.

I think, generally, there is way too much interest from NJ fans on Meier. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.

We need Bastian and Palat back, but it’s not like we are getting physically tossed around. It’s a young team, but they are pushing back (as much as they can).

I still think we are missing a piece in interior, low slot, crease area. Too many shots from outside the dots.

Losing physicality in Palat is definitely hurting, but coming from a fan of a team who everyone, every year, says we're too soft to get through Washington, or Philly, etc... physicality is overrated. You guys are playing TREMENDOUS hockey and just need to keep it up. You're controlling most aspect of the games except for goaltending.

All the stats, all of them... basic and advanced stats prove you're scoring, severely limiting chances, allowing the 2nd fewest shots. The only area you're failing as of late is goaltending.
