Arizona acquires six assets

Created by: spicybois
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 21, 2022
Published: Dec. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
For Chychrun, ARZ gets a 1st, a solid D prospect (Thomson and JBD are interchangeable, whoever they like more), and two F prospects with upside. For taking Zaitsev, they get a 2nd round pick. I'd be surprised to see another team give up more for Chychrun - especially considering Ottawa's likely to pick in the top 10-15 whereas most other teams in the hunt will have less valuable 1st rounders to offer up.

Seems like an overpay. Essentially three 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks and a cap dump attached

Boucher does not have the value of a 1st round pick just because he was picked there by mistake. You could probably replace him and Thompson with your 2024 1st only and it's more appealing

I would have preferred someone else, but we have yet to know if it was a mistake. If he becomes a Tom Wilson lite, **** disturber its a good pick. I trust sens scouting when they picked Sanderson and Pinto earlier than ranked. Based on training camp and interviews, Ottawa clearly thinks highly of the guy and wouldnt want to part with him.

Regardless, this is a lot of value in a haul for an often injured guy who doesn't fit a position of need well.

For more than that offer??

I would hate to be the team that gets him.

I think they would prefer a smaller package with higher quality assets, namely a 2023 1st round pick being a key component.

Oh I thought the 2023 pick was already in the trade so I said 2024

So like blue chip prospect, good prospect, 2023 1st?

I don't think anyone is going to pay that for Chychrun.

Tyler Boucher won't be traded

You don't trade your chips for 30% firesale when you're in the middle of going all in.

Remove him and I'd do the trade

Zaitsev, Nikita
Sokolov, Egor
Thomson, Lassi
2024 1st round pick (OTT)
2024 2nd round pick (WSH)

Not paying a cent above. I'm sure a team would give me good defensive RHD (the real need) for that package
