Seeing as Larkin and kuzmenko are ufas in 23-24 you'd definitely be over the cap that year

It's really not. If the Canucks were primed for a Cup run in the next 2-3 years then sure, but not now. It's not worth essentially paying Provorov (or whoever replaces OEL) an extra 2M-4M on top of their cap hit to take the same spot in the lineup. Maybe down the line its a better option but not now.

I suppose instead of trading Boeser for provorov you could simply cap dump Boeser and keep OEL and it still works. Just is a worse team is all

Philly will much rather trade Provorov for futures than for Boeser

It's the much more patient approach rather than committing to dead cap during non-contending years. PHI doesn't make that trade anyway.

Let’s say you could trade Boeser for a 2nd then with no cap coming back. How does that look for this team? Also assumes we pick too 10 this year

That's the kind of trade that Canucks are accepting they'll have to make apparently. The cap space is what's valuable, it depends on what we do with that.

No one's touching Boeser with the way he's been playing, Flyers certainly wouldn't move Provorov for him

Yeah I don't think you'll get Provorov for just Boeser straight up.
That would be like trading Quinn Hughes for Joel Farabee.

It isn't it would be more advisable to retain 2-3m then trade him and have him on the books for another 8 years.

Well kind of, Hughes and Farabee are similar in age and contract length, just as Provorov/Boeser are.
Value wise, for their respective team that is, I think Provorov comes fairly close to Hughes. Farabee however might be more valued by the Flyers than what Boeser are by the Canucks.
So actually this is almost an even more unbalanced trade than what Hughes for Farabee would be smile

I'm certainly missing something though, don't have a complete picture of the advanced stats and so forth.
