Really not considering Ottawa's position at all here. Garland is a 5mil guy who is gonna be hard stuck on the 3rd line in Ottawa. Contract is way too big for the role he would fill, and Ottawa absolutely can't afford it when they have extensions kicking in for Zub and Stützle next year, and still need deals done with DeBrincat, Pinto and Brannstrom, all while hopefully leaving room to make a quality addition to Ottawa's top 4.

The Wild won't be trading Faber after just acquiring him from the Fiala trade in June.

The Garland trade only makes sense if we're trading away Batherson for a top 4 D, not in a vaccumm

And we're never trading Batherson, so no. We will only give up Thomson (or Bernard-Docker, for that matter) for a top-4 D.
