Could you specify the details in that Konecny trade a bit?
Because I can't make it work in my mind.
The first and a prospect is for the player, and then another prospect for three years retention?
Seems cheap for a top 6 winger with an extensive retention.

yea could quite possibly be more, and I'd be open to paying a bit more. I'd say Konecny alone is worth 1st + Robertson + a good sweetener probably, then our second best prospect is for the retention. But yea, possibly missing roughly a 2nd rounder?

Big if on whether or not they'd even be open to the retention but I personally would if they rebuild, as they probably should.

No point in trading Schenn for that. You’re not gonna get a cheaper guy than Schenn on the right side to do what he does. He hit, blocks shots, helps stabilize Huggy, and is a great leader. Canucks re-sign him another few years at under 2 mil and he retires a Canuck.

who says he wants to stay through the tire fire, why not maximize returns? and if he really wants to stay a Nuck, why wouldn't he want to go on a run and then sign back in the offseason?

and he wouldn't return much more than a 3rd

Yeah he probably would but the problem is that management is opposed to tanking, which is the right call. Alvin wants young players under 25 instead of picks as well. If we trade Schenn it would be for a young defenseman like Cal Foote and not a third or even second which would take 3-5 years to make an impact.

I think you are over estimating how everyone outside of Vancouver sees Schenn. If the team loves him as much as fans do, he'll stay. If management understand that despite his role on the canucks, he's just not all that good and they'll accept a fair trade for him and resign him after. I doubt a 3rd is enough. On most teams he's 7-8 defenceman. Not sure who he replaces on TO at all? He's not knocking Brodie, Liljegren or Holl out of the lineup and Timmins has been really good since coming over as well. That's 4 RD he won't replace.

Konecny is probably the next captain in Philly. Having a hell of a year, and he’s not being shopped and definitely not coming cheap. I doubt, the way Leafs value their prospects, they’ll be willing to meet what they Flyers would want. They’d be looking at ‘23 first, Knies and Niemela. Maybe Philly throws in a prospect, but Leaf fans will think it’s too much and Flyer fans too little. I just don’t see the Flyers moving him unless it’s for a deal they can’t say no to.

I think Koneckny is worth more than that & retaining on a guy with serous value for 3 years makes zero sense. But I’m curious to see what the flyers do - they could get a lot for him and I don’t see them being competitive anytime soon.
Why wouldn’t they move him (& anyone else valuable) that doesn’t line up with their next competitive window which is what … 3 or 4 years down the road?

If the Flyers decide to move TK they’ve thrown in the towel and are in a total rebuild. They’d be shopping everyone from Coots to Provorov to Hart. Should they do that? Yes, probably. Will they? No. The corporation that owns them doesn’t care if they win a cup, just wants them competitive enough to put people in seats.
