Mantha is worth more than Dvorak. And that trade does nothing for us.

Unless the habs are moving mantha immediately after they decline.

Habs dont need another winger they are already short on centres and with Mantha's inconsistencies 5.7 million is a lot for a winger

Like Tarasenko but absolutely no way I'm paying that price for him. Waaaay too much. For that price you can go out and get a younger player under term. Go after Meier with that package.

And Mantha is better than Dvorak so that doesn't help the Caps. Only positive is Dvorak is on a nice contract.

if caps fans are frustrated with eller just wait until they see dvorak lol. also backstrom is coming back so the cap wont work and they need a winger much more than they need a center. take out protas from the tarasenko trade and id do it

If you want Tarasanko, you have to at least put him on the Russian line

Backstrom may come back but he won't be at the same level he played before. If you look at the other hockey players who have had the same surgery like Jovanovski and Kesler, they came back but only for a few games and then retired. The Caps need to prepare for a life without Backstrom because even if he does come back, it won't be for long and not at the level he used to play.

thats not the point. the point is that backstrom has a 9.2 mil cap hit and in this scenario we have 5.6 mil. it is very very clear that backstrom is well past his prime and will likely retire soon

I think it is the point. It's a whole different story if the team knew he was coming back to be a big part of the team. Then it would be a matter of how you fit him in and who do you get rid of. But since we know he isn't going to be a big part of the team, the situation is now how to get rid of his contract. I see a lot of rosters posted on here talking about Backstrom "coming back", but Backstrom isn't coming back, his salary may be coming back but he isn't.

? yeah he is coming back, along with his salary. he'll retire soon so we dont need to get rid of his contract. not to mention how much he means to the team. sure he wont be a big part of the team but he is coming back
