If st Louis falls out and will trade him

Created by: BCAPP
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 26, 2022
Published: Dec. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
For pending ufa forwards everyone is talking about Horvat, but the most appealing to me is O'Reilly.

Now I don't follow st Louis closely so if it's clear or obvious he is being resigned just tell me that and I'll move on

I also recognize they are not selling now and are close to a playoff spot. This is a hypothetical future trade if st Louis falls out
Trades
1.
TOR
This is assuming it's confirmed his career is done so it's just reading an insured contract to sit on ltir. Not worth a huge amount to the Leafs but it is easier to not have players in ltir as can build cap space
    ARI
    1. Muzzin, Jake
    2. 2023 5th round pick (TOR)
    3. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
    2.
    TOR
    1. 2023 4th round pick (ANA)
    Additional Details:
Not Anaheim they're just first alphabetically. Some other team for depth who is in the playoffs with a bit more cap space

I am basing this on the vatrano trade.
    3.
    TOR
    1. O'Reilly, Ryan ($3,750,000 retained)
    STL
    1. Hirvonen, Roni
    2. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
    3. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
    4. 2025 3rd round pick (TOR)

Acciari is easily worth one of the thirds, so you have ROR as = to a first, a third and a B-prospect smurf. I don't think that gets it done. And then on top of that, you're asking for 50% retention. I know that the actual dollar amount is small, but still . . .

I would be shocked if the Blues had any interest in Hirvonen.

Okay forget acciari, I'll remove him. I was just thinking of how we added a 3/4th liner in the Gio trade.

What about now? In the ball park?

What would the blues be interested in prospect wise? I don't know the organization at all? Obviously everyone wants talent, but like position or needs wise?

The above trade was damn close to what the Leafs paid for O'Reilly and aciari. What you claimed was acciari for free

No. The blues got a first, second, and third, two jr players, and didn't have to retain on ROR.

They retained half of RO'R's contract and got an ahler (Adam Gaudette) and a junior prospect with probably equivalent or less value than Hirvonen above

    So essentially I suggest 1st, 3rd, 3rd and Hirvonen
They got 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Abramov (and Gaudette who was a contract throw in likely).

Essentially the difference is a third to a second. Pretty dang close.

    You are forgetting a 4th

St Louis didn't get a fourth. The fourth went to minni to retain some of the contract.

But even so I'd still say I was shockingly close
