No way we get a first for schenn, doubt we get a likely top 40 pick for brock, and I'd rather not take on kotkaniemi's contract and I'm sure canes fans don't wanna trade the next bobby orr

A first for Schenn on a team who's defence has been consistently good all year is a bold take

Personally I think it’s unlikely Schenn is getting a 1st either. With that said, there have been a few insiders on Vancouver radio who have said they wouldn’t be shocked if the return was a late 1st. One of the insiders was Jeff Marek who does a podcast with Friedman so I’m sure he is well informed.

Let’s just do some math - typically 5-6 1st rounders dealt at TDL every year (don’t have exact numbers, but seems about right)…this year is one of the deepest drafts in a long time plus we could have blue chip rentals available like Horvat, ROR, Kane, Bertuzzi, Toews, Tarasenko, Gavrikov, etc available but one of those 5-6 teams is going to obtain Luke Schenn with a 1st. I seriously doubt it

My response quote shows that I am not disagreeing, however the poster stated “There’s no way”. If Marek, who does a podcast with arguably the biggest media NHL insider in Friedman, says he wouldn’t be shocked to see it happen then I’ll take his knowledge and intel over mine or any other AGM’er and say they is a possibility, even if I believe it to be unlikely.

If Schenn is worth a 1st, Holl is worth 2 1sts.

Boeser might go somewhere for a 2nd, but it shouldn't be Montreal. We'd be better off renting him in his final year than trading for him now, if there were any interest.
In the meantime we can use that cap space and non-contender status to leverage multiple picks before the cap situation stabilizes.
Armia and a 2nd for Boeser, and perhaps it's worth considering now. Otherwise I'd say count us out.

Schenn returning a 1st is a possibility due to his cap hit and the potential for any team to include a player in the trade, resulting in a cap gain.
If you have a $1.5M player in your press box to replace with Schenn, that could be enough appeal.
I don't think he's enough on his own, but I can see it with that consideration.
