Thats a lot for Colton.. no?

JVR gets more imo he has 13P in 15GP. Analytics look good too. Only the 3rd round pick has any significant value their.

I like the Ned/Blackwood deal

You’re high if you don’t think that’s already an overpayment for a 3rd liner. Don’t really understand the love for Colton by Devils fans other than him growing up a devils fan.
Besides, he’s an RFA at the end of the season and who’s to say Tampa can even afford him?

Ross Colton is also very very good at hockey. He’s on pace for over 20 goals, with the 4th highest g/60 on Tampa
The market for a 3rd liner who puts up his kind of numbers has always been expensive. This in particular felt like a deal where both teams can improve in the areas they need to. For TBL that’s their Defense (their xGA in particular), and for NJ that’s their finishing (which Colton’s shot should improve)

The Tampa deal doesnt make sense. Colton has proven his spot on the team and he's also much further along in his development thatn Nolan Foote is. Severson is a UFA whos too expensive for us to afford next year. While Colton is an RFA, we have his rights rather than him being UFA obviously. Colton likely isnt traded due to his age, familiarity in the locker room, and his cheap deal. He'll probably get a bridge deal next year so the team can stay competitive for the next couple years.

Good goalie swap. I think NJ wins the deal in the end. Ned was in the Calder running his first season and first half of the second season (lol on the criteria to be eligible twice). I'd probably add some conditional seconds for both teams with performance clauses so if one team "wins" the deal, the losing team gets some sort of compensation.

I don’t see much from Tampa past this year, for a while, which was a thought when choosing them as the rental destination

I don’t think they will be a legitimate cup contender for several years after this season.

As long as they have all their core guys, which they do, you cant count them out. Who knows what mix of players will fill out the roster for the years to come, or what free agents they can land. They are a playoff threat that no one wants to play no matter the round obviously. And i think they become a team that can be a cup contender even with their aging core. Guys have played together all their career and have all played with the same coach. They adjust their play style to continue playing a well rounded game as guys lose skill and their prime passes. A legitimate favorite to win? no probably not. youre right that this is probably their last year that people will have them with good odds to win. But if they win another cup or make the finals again, i cant see their odds falling that far the next season. But as long as their core doesnt completely fall of the face of the earth with their play, theyve got the pieces to stay competitive for cups for the next 3-4 years

Tampa declines. While in a vacuum, the value is more than fair, Tampa will keep Colton while they'd 100% lose Severson after the season. Tampa isn't at an all in point by any means, so a deal like that doesn't make much sense for them. With the emergence of Perbix on the right side, Tampa has a solid top 4 with Hedman, Serg, Cernak, Perbix, and Cole is also rotated in. Tampa will have all of those dmen aside from maybe Cole moving ahead, and the F core is still very much a contender with Point, Kuch, Stamkos, Cirelli, Colton, Hagel, Paul, and Maroon moving into next year. Tampa will need to find 2 or 3 cheaper signings to fill out the 3rd and/or 4th lines, or promote a Syracuse guy or two, but they are far from being out of contention after this season. Vasilevskiy will also still be there. Most of Tampa's main core will still be in their 20's outside of Stamkos and Hedman, who are still only early 30's. Their contention window isn't closed after this season.

Not a bad idea but I'd rather flip Ned for a pick/prospect. He needs more playing time to get back into game shape. Hopefully he will get it and will build his value back up.
