Most zone starts are on the fly , it doesn’t affect much

Beau on RW makes him a dump and chase puck retrieval forward because he can’t protect the puck as welll on that side

Agreed about Beau. And IK what u mean about on the fly zone starts, but I just meant that Pageau and Cizikas r usually used in what Lambert considers to be a “shut down role.” That being said I’d have to look at their quality of competition numbers tbh.

Even if this team got nuked (unlikely) that is horrible value for Sorokin IMO

not really , Kaliyev is a top line caliber forward (or at least will be sooner than later) and a 1st in an extremely deep draft is good value.

So theyre going to let Sorokin walk for nothing? you'd think they would learn from their mistakes

then you're being unrealistic what you can get for a goaltender who has a year and a half left on his contract. Go look up comparable

I never said walk for nothing, I would agree with trading him if that's the ultimatum. But how do you not get a guy like Byfield back at minimum? I also don't care how deep the draft is. That pick is going to be probably 23rd or worse it'll be a total crapshoot.

Idk how many fourth liners in the NHL have good metrics tbh. I’m not arguing with you or trying to be a dick. I just don’t know. Like I couldn’t tell you how Sissons metrics in Nashville are rn, even if he’s playing third line minutes at the moment.

He plays first line so I’d hope so lol. Cizikas is the second defensive center the isles have. Idk how his competition compares to other fourth liners off hand.

You're being unrealistic - goaltenders would never return a future franchise center. Can you give me one example of a goaltender that got a package with that kind of value?

You can't really believe that drafts are a crapshoot...The best teams are built through the draft, its not a mistake

a ton of 4th liners have good metrics. sissons isn't a good player . Matt Martin has good metrics.

I’ve always liked Sissons, but I wouldn’t have wanted to give him that many years tbh.

he is good defensively (unlike cizikas) and he's a good forechecker . He sure isn't a liability like cizikas who is stealing money from the franchise at this point

I wouldn’t have resigned any part of the identity line. Never understood the moves Lou made since he came in as GM. At least he is decent at drafting.

Sorokin is a franchise goalie in his prime. Roy and Hasek are the only two goalies who come to my mind that have ever been dealt. And both deals blew up in the team’s face who traded away the goalie. Doesn’t mean Sorokin can’t be the first. LA is a decent target because of how deep their prospect pool is. Takes them to being a legit contender, and obviously Sorokin is extending wherever he “goes” in this hypothetical scenario to maximize return

Oh 1000000% but if he had to go to auction among the other teams in the league his return is going to be higher than this

Analytics are important, but you have to be able to analyze the game on your own too. My real issue with the fourth line is that they r overpaid. I don’t think they’ve been nearly as bad as described on here.

Sorokin isn't going to be the 1st because the isles don't have a ton of leverage. Sorokin will be a UFA soon.

Kaliyev has a higher chance of being a star than byfield, byfield just plays a more important position.
