All of these are heavily tilted in favor of the Habs except for the Winnipeg trade.

I don't agree, even the Winnipeg trade is tilted heavily in Montreal's favour. The Jets get a tiny, one dimensional winger that will be looking for a large raise and a long term cap dump in exchange for a young 1C. That's just awful for Winnipeg.

I get not wanting to take back Anderson who’s basically a cap dump, but getting Caufield back would pretty sick. I’m pretty sure both teams would decline though.

I've always been a Sean Monahan fan, but the Caps say no

Meh. The Jets traded a better winger to get PLD in the first place and you can't build a team around wingers. Especially tiny, one dimensional ones. He looks good in Montreal, but is getting prime minutes, that he wouldn't get or deserve in Winnipeg, and doesn't have to play defense. I can't see him being successful at all having to play under Bowness' system where accountability and responsible defensive play is required.

I mean, I’m looking at it through the lens where PLD is very realistically trying to leave ASAP from Winnipeg. He’s a better player than Caufield, but at least Caufield is under team control for longer.

Anderson provides a lot of grit and intangibles for the low low price of way too much.

Yeah, I can see that, but it's just extremely unlikely the Jets go backwards towards a winger heavy team again. I think the Jets would probably opt for a futures heavy package or a deal built around a young top 6C prospect or one with the potential to get there.

Plus the good of getting a team controlled young player, would be outweighed by being stuck with a long term cap dump in Anderson. That's a lot of wasted cap space and even more wasted real dollar salary. There just isn't a realistic chance Winnipeg considers getting stuck with Anderson. The Jets don't have a problem spending to the cap, but aren't wasteful and throwing away $15 mil on Anderson over the next 2 years would be an automatic no for almost every team and definitely for Winnipeg.

Please stop the Mantha for Monahan trades. It isn't happening. Mantha is much better, cheaper, and has another year on his deal.
