How does EDM give up essentially nothing of value and end up with a 2023 1st round pick, Laf, and Domi?

@Garak and @krakowitz beat me to it. But Edmonton trades Puj, Shore, 2 (2nds) which are most likely low 2nds for Laff, Domi, and NYR 1st in 2023?
I know it wasn’t a mistake, but c’mon man.

Also in a side note, I don’t think any team can retain on more than 2 players, but I could be wrong.

Just no. This is beyond bad. And when we’ve got no cap to resign Kane, wtf do we do not having Kakko, Goodrow or Laf? This just makes our forward group worse beyond the end of the season.
