You'd be paying us to exchange one more season of a somewhat useful Jakob Silfverberg for two more seasons of a potentially useless (and older) Cam Atkinson, not the other way around.

I realize that Silfverberg is more acquainted to the team and has a well-set role on the team, but I'd have a hard time being convinced that a guy that has notoriously struggled, especially offensively, supercedes a skilled, but injured, winger who had twice as many points last season. Maybe the difference in value isn't as large as I have here, and maybe the ducks aren't interested - fair enough, however I would not agree that the Flyers would be adding assets to go from Atkinson to Silf.

No reason for Detroit to trade for Provorov, it's just not a fit. We already have Chairot on the books for the next 3 years after this season, we *should* be extending Maata for at least 1 season and at least 2 of Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson or Buium will be NHL ready within the next 1-2 years. With the other extensions we need to fit into the cap, it just doesn't make any sense to trade for a pricey LHD.

My thinking here is that Atkinson is a year older than Silf and the likelihood of his missing 82 games over the next two seasons is pretty good when you consider that he'll miss 82 games this season, so in effect we'd be taking the risk that we'd get about the same mileage out of Atkinson as we will out of Silfverberg at twice the cost. And since in all likelihood we won't be contending in either of the next two seasons, the upgrade in production even if Atkinson is healthy for the majority of the next two seasons is unlikely to matter much. In short, a 33-year-old veteran coming off a season-long injury isn't very appealing to a rebuilding team that for at least another season will be drafting in the top 10 of the first round.

Detroit is not a buyer this year and have no use for LD.

Dallas declines. Kyrou has been pretty dominant in the OHL in his D+1 year. He's climbed the Stars prospect rankings & for a team that has no long term prospects at RD other than him, I don't see them being willing to include him in a package for someone like Laughton.

Considerably too much from the Stars. Kyrou and the 2nd have way more value than Laughton. Besides, Faksa already brings what Laughton would.

Silfverberg is an easy buy out. There is no reason for the Ducks to go from him to Atkinson unless it comes with some fairly significant sweetener.

Even if you consider the players a wash that extra year of term on Atkinson makes a world of difference.

The Detroit trade is absolutely ridiculous. Philly adds three 1st round picks.
