Damn I was thinking of doing this same thing haha - would be awkward now. It's difficult because the Zucker/Malkin/Rust line has been so dominant that you don't want to break them up. At the same time having Guentzel or Rakell on the 3rd line seems like a crime.

If they wanted to mix it up I would maybe go.........

McGinn/Crosby/Rakell
Guentzel/Malkin/Kapanen(Carter)
Zucker/Blueger/Rust
Archibald/Poehling/Carter(Kapanen)

Maybe swap Zucker and McGinn possibly. Idk. The issue with the current 3rd line is their being deployed almost exclusively in the defensive zone but don't play defensively lol. And that falls on the coach

I really don't hate this idea. I was advocating for putting Tanev on the first line when he was still here.

I thought of that… I wanted to leave malkin and Sid with at least one of their line mates tho… meaning guentzel and rust move down I think… I could see Rakell and McGinn and blueger as the third line tho… I just didn’t want Jeff carter in the top-9…
In my idea let the 4th line start exclusively in the d-zone and balance the other starts between what’s supposed to do 3 scoring lines who keep momentum… a 4th line that plays 10 min or under can’t hurt us as bad as a 3rd line that plays 13-15

Pens used to mix and match a lot more when they didn’t have bona fide top-6 guys like guentzel, rust, zucker, and Rakell…
