Blues don’t waste a retention spot on accari when they would retain on ROR VT barby or mikkola first

Not that I don't think the value is there with Broberg, but CHI has a big old pile of defenseman on their way up the pipeline. I think they'd be looking for a different kind of prospect.

For sure the Columbus trade at least.

Broberg for Domi is an overpay, and so is Acciari for a 2nd.. Oilers got Ennis and Brassard for 4th and 5th round picks at last two TDL both were 0.5 PPG in those seasons. Acciari is worth maybe a 3rd with 50% retention at his production and better defensive/faceoff value.

Nah, all 3 are clear overpayments. CHI fans are stuck between a 2nd or a 3rd for Domi, Acciari is a bottom-6 F and those rarely get more than a 4th (w/ or w/o retention), and Gavrikov's value has been pretty clearly established as a 1st.

Not disagreeing, but that Columbus trade especially. I hope they keep giving Niemeläinen more minutes before the trade deadline. They might have their shut down D already.

I don't disagree, but I'm not sure what the value of salary retention is going to be this season with so many teams against the cap.

As a blues fan I accept. But it will probably only take a 3rd round pick to get Acciari

Last year was largely the same and yet values didn't seem to spike all that much. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't envision a scenario where someone like Domi returns a prospect like Broberg.

I hope so. Oilers history of trading out, or just not signing/resigning the young, and overpaying the old worries me.
