All these panic trades...

The Pens definitely need to do something, but these panic/desperation trades are not the way to go. I know ANA fans will disagree with me, but Henrique is not even close worth that return. That's a lot of sending out for a slight upgrade from Carter. I like Henrique and totally acknowledge that he's an upgrade from Carter, but man, that's too much. I get it, you're sending them a player they don't need and retaining, but still.

Also, Pens fans need to get over this dream of moving Carter. Not happening unfortunately. MAYBE if the Pens are sellers next season at the deadline, but not happening now.

I’m hoping to get a 2nd for Domi as a pure rental… so the value is good for Chicago's side. Why is Dumoulin included? Chicago would be happy to flip him if it’s just cap considerations.

Dumo isn't pretty much considered a cap dump at this point. He's sharply regressed and the vast majority of Pens fans would much rather have Smith, Ruhwedel, or Friedman taking his spot. If you think you can retain 50% and flip him for a pick or two, be my guest.

I've been seriously considering the possiblilty of aquiring Henrique for a couple weeks, at least. I think he's been one of the few good players on the Ducks this year and would be more than a slight upgrade over Carter. It's pretty clear to me that BJC is having trouble driving play and the Pens need a capable 3C. There aren't really better options unless you want to panic trade even harder and swing for Toews or Horvat. You're right, though, on saying Carter isn't leaving. NTC and I don't think he wants to uproot and move his family again.

His contract is harmless and makes the cap exchange neutral. I would maybe suggest dropping the half retained on Domi (you don’t need it).

I cannot see Carter waiving his NMC.

Hawks are not taking on 4M rental AND retaining on Domi for a late 2nd. They won't have a retention slot to flip him. Remove Dumoulin or remove retention on Domi or add in a 3rd round pick.

I'm willing to bet CHI is on Dumoulin's No Trade list. But, yeah, if there is a third party involved and CHI is just retaining and reaping the rewards of, I'm good with it.
