Take out Niederbach, Lindstrom and the second and Detroit might do that.

Canucks aren’t giving away Garland for nothing while also retaining for 4 years

Canucks are stuck with OEL

Rangers don’t do that trade

Honestly if they made that 23’ second rounder a 24’ second; I’d do that.

I would take a chance on him for a 24 2nd if Bertuzzi is moved for futures, but right now we have too many wingers.

Maybe we can play him at RHD?

Why?

At this point in the rebuild, he addresses help on the power play, and is essentially a guaranteed 20+ goals and 50 points. Going in to next season (Bertuzzi status pending) his cap hit doesn't hurt Detroit. He will be in the final year, and if Detroit is still a seller, 50% retained could yield a good return next season. If he has the same spark that Perron and Kubalik have shown, maybe he reaches a new level. Only 25 years old he is a .79 ppg player with 7 years in the league.

Gus has declined a bit, but his ceiling is NHL 6D
Luff is IR and a fringe NHLer
Niederbach is tough to call, but personally believe he is borderline bottom 6
2nd rounder is tough, but a some point picks need to be players or a rebuild won't end. Will the 2nd rounder be as good as Boeser? Maybe

Very steep price for BB. Detroit doesn't need more wingers , we need center and rd just like you.

I'd rather sign Horvat as a UFA and keep the assets. Although I'm a bit worried about Niederbach's potential.

Detroit passes, Brock Boeser isn't worth that much.

Zero chance of Oliver Ekman-Larsson waiving for the Islanders, he's already said numerous times Boston and or Vancouver.

Rangers don't have the cap space to sign Bo Horvat, he's going to want 8 x $8,500,000 if not slightly more.

Isles trade is terrible even if OEL waived, and tbh I think anyone would waive to get out of Vancouver. With that all being said, OEL is one of the worst defenseman in the league and it would cost multiple top tier assets to dump him even if you retained on his contract.

I would do a 2nd rounder in 24 or later, I don't think I would trade Neiderbach. I'm fine with letting Lindstrom go but I would rather try and develop him into a good shut down bottom pairing guy.

100% totally agree, he'd hurt the Isles as well. Doesn't seem like a Lou type of Dman anways.

Only thing more toxic than OEL’s deal is JT Miller’s attitude.

Niederbach is expendable. They have Hanas, Tyutaev, Kasper, and the recently emerging Lombardi, and as a long shot Red Savage. Niederbach isn't playing well, and isn't making the most of his minutes; is now in the 2nd league in Sweden, and...isn't doing all that great. Every center in the system, outside of Kasper and MAYBE Hanas figures to be a bottom 6.

Niederbach has potential, no doubt, but from the very limited sample size I saw this year on a few internet feeds, he isn't working very hard, or maybe he is not understanding the system, so he doesn't know how to work in the system. I haven't seen him since his loan to Modo. If it was just a lack of confidence playing against men, he should be tearing it up with Modo.

I'd be ok with including Niederbach in any trade that makes the team better, but Boeser is not that guy since the team has that logjam at good to very good wings. Boeser falls in the same category as Kubalik and Fabbri, being behind Raymond, Bertuzzi, and Vrana. Then you gotta figure out what to do with Berggren, who is playing 4th line minutes but should absolutely stay up. What does the team then do with Erne, suter, Rasmussen (who is 3C but looks great on Larkins wing in place of Bertuzzi), Soderblom, Sundqvist, and Veleno? Too many forwards, let alone dedicated wings.

And that's fair. I am not as high on Niederbach, but I could be wrong. I would have said no shot when I watched him in Sweden until last summer. Since then I have liked him less, and by the time he gets to Detroit I think he will be beaten out by someone else. I hope I am wrong.

Lindstrom is tough. Wouldn't love losing him, but for the upgrade and SY's ability to find capable D or his replacement, why not. Oesterle has been miles ahead and thats not good.

That's a long winded way of saying I think Niederbach is expendable, but not for Boeser unless there are a lot of other moves to make roster space in the 13 forwards.
