Works for me. Is Ottawa welcoming of Wideman though, or is he just a side effect of moving Zaitsev? Might as well just leave him out if he's persona non grata anyway. We can at least use him and bury/buy out Zaitsev.

Fair. i dont really care about the return anyway. just want him to get a change of scenery and i want to free up a roster spot for another winger. i'm sure someone would take a flyer on him for cheap just to see if his talent could translate to something in a different situation.

I agree, but Montreal also isn't retaining for free.
I don't know why anyone would want Drouin, but unless they are covering the cost of retention it makes more sense to just ride out his contract.
You want him at full cap hit, you can have him with no strings attached.

I could see that Oilers trade happening if a team can take Puljujarvi's full cap hit, he's gone for little! He wont be tendered a qualifying offer in the offseason at 3M. He will go back to Finland or have to take min salary in 2023-24
