I think everyone on here clamoring to pick up Vrana on waivers is going to be disappointed. There is more to the story we don't know. Yzerman isn't walking from an asset we as fans all have highly valued. No Yzerman Jedi tricks here.

Yzerman isn't dumb, He's not putting Vrana on waivers knowing he's going to lose him for nothing. pretty sure he's got assurances that he won't get claimed.

Even if we claimed Vrana, not moving others in a trade would make his cap hit difficult to accommodate.
We could be looking at another Drouin situation with a part-time, distracted player whose value simply keeps decreasing and prevents us from making more preferable moves.
Without more information, it's not worth the risk, as we'd only be looking to flip him and that gets complicated due to having to re-offer him to any other team making a claim.
