Kane sure, he should win a cup in Buffalo. They have no need for Toews. Those lines arent close to being correct

Not a freaking chance dude

Not only shouldn’t the Sabres do this,
they wouldn’t do this

Makes ZERO sense to give those assets up for guys who could walk- and even though u said the both resign, we wouldn’t know that they would at the time of the trade

And it makes even less sense that u don’t have Peterka in the lineup
It’s clear you aren’t a Sabres fan
Maybe u should stick to your team sir

I don't want to trade Krebs. He is becoming that hard working bottom liner, while still having offensive potential. He should stay, not be traded for guys who can be signed in offseason.

Peterka, I trust trust a man with three first names, stick to ONE first name not three dude. Is it Jason ? John or Peter ?

Doesn’t matter what his name is
He should be in the lineup
If u had a clue, you’d know that

The clue is waiver exempt.

And a better player than Olofsson, Girgensons & the entire 4th line you’ve got

No argument there, obviously if the Sabres were to be buyer's at the TDL, they'll also want to be seller's at the same time.

@draft_em_sign_em_trade_em

Here’s the thing:
trading for Toews & Kane just doesn’t make a lot of sense

Toews doesn’t make sense for us long term. He’s already declining and simply doesn’t fit our timeline.

Kane looks to have slipped a bit this year as well, and he’s already 34 years old (like Toews).
And if we really wanna consider him, we can do so this summer without having to give up good assets to get him.

Even with Toews & Kane on the roster,
they don’t make us Cup Contenders. And bc of their age & declining production, they won’t be able to play large roles when we are ready to contend.

That doesn’t mean the Sabres should be open to making a move(s) that’ll help now- AND- in the future
But giving up good assets for older pieces just isn’t an option we should entertain.

These guys just aren’t the right fit for us,
& should be going to a team that’s ready to win now
We just aren’t there yet

100% true.

Of all the trade partner's for the Hawks and a playoff contender, the Sabres are the only team that'll need zero retention.

Of course the Hawks WANT to find a Cup contender who'll need retention so the Hawks get more assets.

This is just a mixture of fun and boredom on my part.

LOL

This is the exact reason so many trades end up getting trashed on here- bc the person making the trade proposal doesn’t consider the other teams’ perspective

Well it’s great that it makes sense from the Hawks perspective,
but it just doesn’t work on the Sabres end

Trade no, but would you really complain as a Sabres fan if they signed both Kane and Toews to identical 2 years contracts worth in the $3.5 to $5 million each>?

Kane and Toews have always signed at the same $ and term amount.

If we signed Kane as a free agent to a deal like that I’d be ok with it
If we signed Toews, I’d rather we spent that Cap on someone else

And regardless of whether or not we extended them with sweetheart deals- i would absolutely hate it if we spent any good assets at all to get them

Just bc we have plenty of assets, doesn’t mean we should casually fling them about
I’d much rather overpay for a good player who fits into our long term plans

Getting out from that $6 cap hit of Okposo may end badly. The GM might use that "free" money and overpay another UFA.

Hopefully JB just see's Okposo $6 as now belonging to Tage and doesn't make a bad signing.

Idk who “JB” is, but our GM has been Kevin Adams since 2020

And (supposedly) the route Management is taking is to get our young players locked up long term, and not spend frivolously

So I’m really not worried about us overpaying for another Okposo type- that was 2 GMs ago

Adams has been taking this rebuild slow & methodical & smart

Yeah, he was 3 years ago
Back when the Toews & Kane idea would’ve made more sense
🤣🤣🤣
