Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 3, 2023
Published: Jan. 4, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
KEEP Meier for the love of all that is holy. Sharks will be looking for years to find someone who could score 30-40 goals.
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Thomson, Lassi
  2. Zaitsev, Nikita
  3. 2024 5th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Zaitsev is being dumped at full price. Report was that Ottawa would be willing to move a high pick or prospect to move him.

    2.
    SJS
    1. Blackwood, Mackenzie
    2. 2024 4th round pick (NJD)
    3.
    SJS
    1. 2024 4th round pick (COL)

    PIT
    1. Bonino, Nick ($1,000,000 retained)
    5.
    SJS
    1. Johnson, Ryan [Reserve List]
    Additional Details:
Maybe Buffalo thinks Johnson won’t sign and they decide to move him for a boom or bust player. Could be a later pick, like a 5th, added by San Jose.
    BUF
    1. Merkley, Ryan
    Additional Details:
This is an unknown trade. Not sure what team but I think teams will be interested.

    Other teams could be:
-Florida: cheap depth, also Gudas on an expiring deal
-Ottawa: has been looking for RD, don’t think his type though
-Seattle: Small prospect pool, would add talent to it
    -Boston: another weak prospect pool

I don’t think they move ANY RD unless they’re getting a RD back

Don’t think Merkley has 2nd round value at this point. Which is what Johnson has.

Fair, I figured that would be the case. Just not sure what kind of market merkley will have. Still has a ton of upside and really hasn’t been given a fair chance in San Jose. Does have the bust aspect too though

Does Ottawa want to move Zaitsev for cap purposes next year with many guys to sign or has be just fallen out of favor? Or both?

What if it was Thomson, Zaitsev and a 3rd for Merkley? I see San Jose wanting a D back for him if he is moved with how shallow their D prospect pool is, especially RD. That’s why I went for Thomson. Is Bernard-Docker expendable? I know he’s another RD

My understanding was that we are prepared to move a "high pick/prospect" to free ourselves from Zaitsev.

At least according to Kevin Weekes anyway.

    I’d move Jarventie and/or a 2nd rounder. High pick doesn’t ONLY mean a 1st rounder
