Lot of money for a 3rd pair Dman. Especially with Dahlin and Power both coming up for extensions.

Plenty of cap space.

He can play up with power at times too and bump up when any of the top 4 get hurt.

Also allows us not to overplay dahlin or power, especially on penalty kill. Also a good vet for the room

Negligent overpayment for two incredibly old players, and what is at least a slight overpayment for a third line winger. Pass.

Who are the incredibly old players and what's the overpayment?

OK, Niederriter is only 30. I thought he was older than that, got him confused with Zuccarello for a second. But McDonagh could retire before that contract is over. I wouldn’t give up half of that for those two. The rights to Johnson and Vegas‘s pick should be more than enough. Aside from the fact that we don’t need to be adding a $7 million third pairing defender, if we need a veteran we can get one a hell of a lot cheaper than this.

Well, I disagree.

I also didn't give up alot at all.

Olofsson and a 2nd for niederreiter
Johnson and Fitzgerald for mcdonaugh

If mcdonaugh retires we get the cap space back

Taking that money off Nashville’s hands is doing them a favor already, you want to give them more assets than they deserve too. I wouldn’t even trade Olofsson for Neiderreiter straight up. McDonuagh isn’t the right guy for Buffalo anyway, and I’m pretty sure he has a no trade clause too.

Eh, this summer they've got a bunch of the RFAs to pay: Miller, Chytil, Laf, so if they do it now and don't have to worry about space that's fine. Value is good, only thing is they'd have to somehow replace Goodrow's role in the bottom 6 within the cap which would be tough.

Ok, well I disagree about olofsson and neiderreiter.

I also disagree that mcdonagh isn't what we need. Obviously he would need to waive.

Again I gave up a floundering pending ufa winger, a soon to be college ufa who isn't going to sign, a borderline ahl defensemen and a very late 2nd

They have 16-17 million to fill 10 roster spots including multiple expiring elcs.
