The Rangers gave up a 1st, a 2nd, a prospect, and a 5th for a couple months of Andrew Copp.

Even if PLD will be a UFA in two years, there is absolutely no way the Jets will trade PLD to Montreal to appease him and get the scrubs a lot of these Habs fans offer. If he does get traded, they can still trade him to another team and get something like a 1st, a roster player, and a top prospect even if he's at his new destination for only a year.

This. As a more realistic Jets fan I expect something similar to Trouba, a prospect (or roster player) of varying potential based upon where that 1st lands and who is available at that spot.
This whole thing has been tainted much like the Trouba situation and their agents opening their far ****ing mouths and regardless of PLDs ACTUAL intentions, it has and will affect his return. The return at the draft from Montreal will be a similar return if he went to a contender as a rental.

Conditions worked out perfectly in the favor of the team getting those picks. **** like that doesn’t normally happen. No one thought Florida would trade Hub and Weegar AND hire PoMo in the off season and who would have thought NY would make it to the conference finals.

i don't think he will be traded to MTL for multiple reason
1- MTL is in rebuild now
2- MTL will restart to compete (at least we hope) when he will be UFA around 24-25
3- He would hurt our rebuild if he come now
4- The price would be to high
5- If he sign somewhere else , he sign somewhere else and that's it, he is not available anymore, case close.

So basicaly in my opinion the timing is simply not now. We don't even know where we will draft yet , we will have good lottery chance maybe Bedard (if we are lucky enough) or top 5 could give us Fantili or Carlson and we can have our second centre in a couple of years(around 24-25 , 25-26). Probably one or two year later then if we sign PLD as UFA.

the point is IF he come to MTL it will be as UFA in 2024 summer not before . It will hurt the team's future to much if he come before that . (as the price to aquire him in the first place but we have to add the ranking of our draft pick during our rebuildt hat would be lower quality)

You're not asking for a late 1st round pick that is generally moved at the deadline, you're asking for a pick that is currently in the top-10 and will likely be in the draft lottery. You don't want to use draft position? Fine.

You're asking for a lottery pick, one of the better 23 and under players in the NHL on a good contract and a top performer at the WJC for a year and a half of Dubois. What exactly are you expecting from other teams?

Kakko, Lafreniere and Othmann from the Rangers?
Raymond, Detroit's 2023 1st and guy like Johansson or Wallinder from the Red Wings?
Pinto, Ottawa's 2023 1st and Thomson from the Senators?
