That EDM trade is brutal for the Blues. The 2nd would be for taking Foegele alone (which they almost certainly would never do). Bourgault is a nice prospect, but he ain't worth retained ROR + a 3rd.

I can't imagine any team giving up that much for two guys that are hurt and may not even have a chance to prove that they are back at full health by the TDL .
Change it from a 2nd and 6th to just a 3rd and the penguins make that trade. Probably aren't giving up a 2nd for a guy on track for 10 goals this year

The Blues don't, though. And simply reducing a player to just goals... I mean... okay.

Agreed - teams won't be paying top dollar for ROR or Tarasenko right now. And ROR is having a pretty bad year so far, I doubt he's returning a high-end prospect + player + pick even if he wasn't injured. Maybe to a team desperate for a 2C, but that's not Edmonton.

I can't see O'Reilly not fetching a first and a prospect. Foegele is barely worth mentioning, he's a cap dump. O'Reilly isn't having a great year production wise but he's still doing solid work defensively, cup pedigree, no trade protection, etc etc. LeBrun even reported the injury might work in the Blues' favor, since he'll be rested before the deadline. Tarasenko is the one the Blues are probably going to take a bath on.

O'Reilly is supposed to be back well before the deadline. Tarasenko, we'll see.

Comp for Barbashev is a bit less than Jarnkrok to me.

Weird tho because it normally takes two teams to trade , right? just because blues fans are focused so much on PAST success doesn't mean other teams will just overlook how they are playing currently

Is he though? It certainly doesn't look that way by the stats. He's the worst forward on the team for on-ice GA at 5v5 (4.23 GA/60!!), due in part to allowing more high danger chances all but two of his teammates.

That's not a rental I'd be willing to part with a high-end prospect and pick for.

Oh the good ole "how many times have you watched him" argument.
I watch every blues game I can. at least 3 a week. I have 6 blues on my fantasy team (which isn't doing so hot this season lmao)

Okay, and aside from his career outlier low shooting slump, how has he played in other areas of the game? Dazzle me.

I mean yeah people shouldn't give up so much for rentals in general ever, it's a dumb way to acquire assets and I don't think it works out all that well for those that take the big swings on expiring guys. If I was a GM I wouldn't do it. But real life GMs clearly think it works so if we're talking about "will someone pay that for Ryan O'Reilly" I think the answer is pretty safely yes.

I don't disagree, but I'm not really worried about O'Reilly's defensive metrics when they're rotating his wingers constantly and he's working with a primarily puck moving defense, I feel like that doesn't really mesh well with his skillset. I think on the ice he's still retrieving the puck a lot, still breaking up passes, in general allowing few shots against even if the ones he is allowing are high danger. The habits are still there and on a better team I don't really see it being an issue.

Lmao. You're fun.
How about you explain to me how he is worth two picks in a loaded draft for a team that may not even make the playoffs. Dazzle me.

Ehh hold up. You claim you've watched almost every Blues game, so surely you have no need to turn the tables when obviously you can give a simple educated take on his all-around play...

And you claim to be a blues fan but can't even simply explain how a middle sixer is worth two picks in a loaded draft. Two can play this game pal. Must not be a blues fan if you can't even explain how he's worth that.

(sigh)

The first issue was you giving your own eye test take on the player. Then you suddenly flipped it around. And if I tell you the answer, you essentially forfeit "the first game". Just admit you haven't watched him much and can't say how his play has been past reading stats, and be done with it. Sheesh.

Heh. Why does everyone Flames fan insist on including Rooney? For Vova and Barby with Rooney coming back, I'd ask for the 23 1st and Coronato. I wouldn't expect them to accept, but that's definitely what I'd ask.
