Rebuild 2023

Created by: hoac434
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 5, 2023
Published: Jan. 5, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Reasoning:
Joel Edmundson - seeing the previous haul for Chiarot last year its not unfathomable that he gets a 1st+, Puljujärvi is in for a change of scenery and Edmonton need to get some grit (some say), Eddy for another year after this one at half price is also worth the slight bit more paid

Monahan - Good responsible veteran presence which adds depth to a Toronto center for very cheap thanks to arizona

Kravtsov - Again, change of scenery needed and its worth paying the picks for a more NHL ready player especially since MTL already have so many picks

Anderson - This one is a lot more of a question mark, rumours have it there is a lot of interest for him, Nashville have the space, the poor winger depth and the reported unwillingness to go rebuild. I don't know enough about nashville prospects to say if this is a vast overpay or not. Again looking at this from a reports pov, as fans most of us agree he is not worth it

Drouin - This is literally the equivalent of getting signing rights early, low pressure market could do drou well and buffalo is an upcoming team that can afford the cheap price of an experiment

Buffalo has 14 quality forwards on the roster and a good group ready in ahl. 1000% no interest or room for drouin

Kravtsov only gets moved if he's part of a package to bring in a Big Gun at the TDL (Kane, Tarasenko, etc) to help the Rangers for this Playoff run.

Moving him by himself for just a 2nd is underwhelming. Would rather just hold onto him, if that's the case.

If Torontos first round pick is in play I’d have to imagine it’s for someone better than Sean Monahan

Edmonton's 1st round pick is currently 13th overall. Not a chance Edmundson is worth that.

Honestly, I would consider it. There’s sykora, othmann and others in the wings waiting for a shot. NYR has two 1sts and a 2nd already, could add even more options to the RW. Wouldn’t mind targeting a guy like Sprong for 4th line, maybe Motte as well. I think those 2 guys could add more to the roster than a big name who will only fit on the 5v5 lines and 30s of PP2 time with the kids. Not to mention they are cheaper.

** not to mention we need a 3LD potentially
