Murray killed a trade to Buffalo in the off-season, why would he accept one a year later?

Can’t say I knew but premise of trade remains

Reilly says no, and Buffalo says no. Wouldn't the Sabres be thousand times better off signing Varlomov for 4.7m and keep their second?

Can't see the Leafs wanting or affording Dumba. Certainly Engvall doesn't take a 30% pay decrease, and Bunting doesn't sign for that.

Swap out the 1st for a 2nd and Rielly for Liljegren, then the Canucks accept.

Canucks decline. They are not in the market to be trading 1sts, and another offensive defenseman in Rielly is the last thing they need. Acquiring Rielly also means either OEL is relegated to the 3rd pair or we are giving up a 1st+ for a 3rd pair d-man, as well as pretty much guaranteeing Rathbone never makes it out of the AHL.

Canucks aren’t giving up a 1st when they lack prospects and have a better, younger version of Rielly in Hughes

Look at their cap space. They can afford him and his three twin brothers

Too bad your premise was flawed to begin with
No chance it happens with the Sabres
Maybe another team- maybe
