Still in a ridiculous joke of a trade proposal a leafs fan still can’t understand that acquiring Horvat in any form starts with their 2023 first. Lol

Not even close for Pettersson, let alone Horvat as well

laugh RIGHT, Yeah very funny dude. Too bad the Laffs don't have the pieces to land both Horvat and Pettersson, Include either Marner or Nylander at least. The whole package outside of Lily is pure garbage. But Detroit will give up Rasmussen+Zadina+Suter+6th round pick for Auston Matthews.

The picks are for Horvat, who is a UFA btw. And the high level prospects are for Pettersson.

High level prospects for Pettersson 😂. Not a single player on the Leafs they would trade Pettersson for. Not even Matthews who will walk in free agency in a couple years

It's an overpay for both of guys, and the Leafs can't really afford Peterson next season anyway.
Canucks fans don't seem to realize having a ton of cap and good futures is the way to rebuilt. Gonna be interesting what they get for Horvat this TDL and Petersson in a yer or two.

Robertson is not a high level prospect. Minten is pretty good, but not nearly good enough to highlight a return for Pettersson

Please try to explain how this is an overpay? Two 1sts, not even a 2023 1st we can say covers Horvat (even then not sure the Canucks would take that)

The rest is nowhere close for Pettersson. The original deal itself probably doesn’t get Pettersson on his own

laugh You really think that Liljegren+Minten+Robertson get you Elias Pettersson? I wouldn't move Larkin for that let alone Petterssonon on top.

Overpay for both guys, You're kidding right?

Horvat is worth the 2024 1st+2024 2nd round picks rather easily plus more than likely to get a better return.

You honestly think that Kerfoot+Liljegren+Minten+Robertson+2025 1st round pick is overpay for one the best young Cs in the league. I mean give us a break.

First it's a ridiculous proposal. Leafs certainly don't need two centres.
The look at the cap. Losing Holl by sending him to the minors....Engvall miraculously on LTIR...and a 20 man roster
So next season, the Leafs can't even afford Petersson without losing Bunting and others.
Then to lose a top 4 Dman in Liljegren, and needed cheap in the future Minten and two first and second.

Folks have to think of roster construction for all teams.

Now if the Canucks made the deal....They would have Liljgren, two firsts and second, and 13 m in cap. Gee that would be enough to sign Horvat (or whoever) , have Liljegren and cap plus futures.

I know Canucks fans (or all fans) get emotional about their stars. But where is Miller. Peterson and Horvat getting you now? And you can be sure Peterson is going to in play in a couple years as UFA.
You think he wants to resign in Vancouver?
Now I'll admit the Canucks might be able to get more for Peterson and Horvat in separate deals. But it certainly doesn't work for the Leafs this season, in manning a complete roster and next season.

You have to consider the whole picture in mind. The Canucks need to tank and think of the future. Minten, as a power play specialist, can replace Horvat. Then you add 2 1sts, a bona-fide top 4 young defenceman, a young sniper, and a veteran like Kerfoot who can bring in more assets. And, last but not least, you get a better shot at landing Bedard.

So, the trade in full is really Pettersson + Horvat for Bedard, Minten, Liljegren, Robertson, 2 1st round picks, and 2 2nd round picks if you decide to flip Kerfoot.

That's an amazing package.

Pettersson is an RFA when his contract expires. He’s not leaving Vancouver anytime soon.

Also I believe most Canucks fans wanted Miller dealt, and while Horvat is a fan favourite most fans understand they need to move him. Pettersson is a different story. No need to move him at all, and no reason to move him

True Canucks don't have to move Petterson and just predicting he will dealt as he will not be signing long term with the Canucks. Horvat? Gotta believe he wants to finish his career elsewhere ( I believe McDavid and Matthews also will not resign with their current teams). Miller? Canucks lost their chance to get young assets and cap last TDL. Now they it looks like they have an untradable player who won't be living up to his contract soon.

What makes you say Pettersson won’t sign long term with the Canucks?

Cause what 7 or 8 years will be enough for him. It's called free agency. Gee, he's not unique.
