Description
Pens have to make moves, that's pretty clear. Ty Smith has looked pretty good and I'd personally keep him in when we are healthy. The 3rd line needs a rebuild so I tried to make the most realistic trades I could.

Oh man, he's a complete shi*t show right now. To put it nicely, his behavior has been really bad in how he's reacted towards his teammates and how he's basically giving up on plays during the game because he's over it.

I don't know if this has always been an issue with him and it's just now coming to light, but after all of this, it's going to take at least a good year of him proving he's changed his ways before any GM considers trading for him.

It's fun to play around on here, but in all reality, I can't see the Pens being players for any big names. They simply don't have the space or assets they're willing to part with to make any major changes.

I think for the Pens, the realistic level of player will be guys like Travis Boyd or Sundqvist. Maybe not those guys specifically, but guys like them. The Pens problems aren't in the top-six. Barbashev gets traded a lot on here by Pens fans, but the only reason I push back on that is I don't see why STL would move him. I know they're season is in peril, but I don't see them going towards a rebuild. If anything, a minor retool and in a retool, you want guys like Barbashev.

That Miller contract would be a disaster. I think we are witnessing the decline of the team and trading picks will just hurt us down the line. Part of the reason I think we need to embrace the future is because the Dumo, Kapanen, Carter contracts are basically immovable. Unless we attatch 2nds to them, which would not be wise imo.

I think if the right value comes for Barby he could be moved. I also agree with what your saying. I have been seeing Miller to pens trades recently and he's been pretty cheap and I didnt know why so thanks for clearing that up. I think trading Dumo once were fully healthy makes a lot of sense. Ty Smith has been pretty good and has looked better than Dumo. He reminds me of Letang a lot. Kapanen has to go of course. Maybe we trade Dumo to any team that we can get a late round pick out of and trade Kapanen, 2nd, prospect for JVR? I think hed be a realistic target for Hextall and JVR has been pretty good this year

I hate to keep peeing in everyone's cheerios, but I think the likelihood of Dumo getting moved is VERY low. Not even because he's immovable, but players like him unfortunately have a low chance of being moved because of their history with their team. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I'd say it's one of the more unlikely things to happen.

Smith has been pretty good. I wouldn't compare him to Letang. He doesn't have the physical game, nor the defensive ability. I'm not sure who I can compare him to, but he doesn't have to be good in his own end. He just needs to learn to NOT be a liability, but he moves the puck well and helps generate offense.

JVR is just too expensive. The other things you mentioned would have to happen to make that room while having Philly retain 50%. Are these things all possible? Sure, I can never say never, but I just don't see them as likely unless Hextall gets canned tomorrow and they bring in an aggressive GM.

Philly said they'd be willing to retain 50% so its possible. Smith reminds me of Tanger skating wise and his size. Also, we need a new gm lol
