Sharks get cap savings yes, but move the far better player for it and get back a LW/C two positions sharks have set and lose a RW a position sharks are weak at already. gotta pass on this one.

I really hope the Hawks stay away from Merkley. Nothing against him, I just want to see our prospect get chances before the start acquiring other teams "change of scenery" prospects. We've had enough of the Alex Nylander trades and have a ton of D prospects that need NHL ice time to actually develop.

That’s too much for Murphy imo
Take out the Philly 2nd, i doubt we move that

Also, as much as Sabres fans here clamor for it,
idk that the Sabres feel they need to upgrade RD2

Jokiharju & Power have played pretty well together,
problem has been when Jokiharju has been hurt

We also might feel we’re still a year away from making these kinda moves
Either way, i don’t see a guy like Murphy being a big enough upgrade to get us to overpay

Seattle's cap sheet is pretty flexible, and there's no telling if Wright will be ready for a 2C role right out of the gate next year, so I don't think the Kraken will be super willing to dump Wennberg for nothing.

Ottawa isn’t a cap team. They can just buyout Zaitev

They will be a cap team next year with or without Zaitsev. Bad take.

He’d be a step above Jokiharu but hope KA improves team with two solid d for next year

        Sure (i think)
        But the question is:
Is Murphy a big enough step up from Jokiharju for the assets we’d have to give up to get him??

I think Power & Jokiharju could grow into a good tandem
We’ve got time to figure out if we really need the upgrade or not- guess we’ll see over the next couple months

Agree with the point about two 2nd rounders + a young defenseman (albeit 5th/6th) being too much of a return going to Chicago.....

Also agree that the Sabres have made it pretty clear they're comfortable with a top 4 of Dahlin-Samuelsson-Power-Jokiharju but that doesn't mean they may not be looking for an upgrade for the 3rd pairing so they don't have to overuse the top 4 for 25 minutes each night. Murphy has been a capable top 4 defender who can handle 15-20 minutes a night......and he brings as much of a physical element as Lyubushkin and more than Fitzgerald. Although Murphy has the M-NTC and may not waive to go to another non-playoff team, he's also well-acquainted with Granato from their 2 years together in Chicago.

We'll see if the organization's position about when they push their chips in - as much as Adams has repeatedly emphasized the need for patience and not wanting to fast-forward things, he's also preached (with Granato) that they believe in giving players opportunities to grow and succeed. If the players have done so at an unexpectedly-faster rate than Adams or Granato predicted, not doing something to reward the players for their work can have a demoralizing effect.
