Description

Don't get me wrong, I think Mantha is a very good top 6 winger...but for whatever reason he isn't in a Laviolette coached team imo.

You can say its because he is usually deployed on the third line with Eller, but honestly he hasn't really impressed me all that well when he does play in the top 6...

I also don't think he'll be in the top 6 much at all for the rest of the season with Backstrom and Wilson coming back, so are you really going to pay a 3rd/4th liner 5.7 million?

I have a feeling he might be moved, just so Milano, Eller or Protas can continue to be in the lineup every night.

Let me know if I'm wrong with any of this lol.

IMO...no he has a higher cap hit and has an extra year on his deal.

Mantha will always leave you wanting more. Because he's so talented. But he just doesn't have that dog in him to be better. He lacks that compete gene. He's content with playing in the NHL and collecting his 5.7 mil AAV. He is what he is.

He'll play the odd game where he puts everything together and looks like one of the best players in the NHL. And you'll wonder why he can't play like that more often.

But then he'll just look in the mirror and ask himself, what am I doing? I'm Anthony Mantha! I can't do this every night! Back to Float City. He'd thrive playing for the Washington Naps.
