It's going to be a slow painful rebuild for the Hawks.

2 things,
Severson isnt signing that ticket,
knowing the reputation of the owners, they are going to make a trade to save money, this looks like a perfect myers situation

Hawks aren't trading Mitchell for Reilly unless Lysel comes with. Mitchell is fine. He just needs to more NHL ice time ton properly develop.

Try more like 2-3 years @ $5,500,000 for Jonathan Toews and 6 x $5.500,000 for Damon Severson. Neither one is taking one year deals at those low ball offers.

Mitchell is an 24 year AHL player.

Hawks fans have been begging management to give him a shot. He's been north of a PPG dman in the AHL and for whatever reason had hasn't been given a chance. He's getting one now and he's playing well. No reason to be taking AHL players back that have muti year $3M cap hits unless something of REAL value comes with not a second rounder blah pick

Reilly’s buyout is 300k. Why would someone give up a 19 year old averaging a point a game in the AHL for that. Reilly played fine last year. Bruins just don’t have room for him right now.

Fair. BOS should buy him out. Keep the Hawks out of that mess.

Asking for Lysell back for Michell is pretty ridiculous.

Thinking Reilly has any value at all is FAR more ridiculous. He's a $3M AHLer. Just buy him out. Sending him to the Hawks would require likely the 1st alone. Now you want a prospect we like too???

I understand, but taking a ridiculous trade and then upping the craziness all the way to the other side is not really a negotiation. Mitchell is a good prospect and all, but he is not a #1/#2 dman of the future here. He is a guy amongst many other guys we have with potential.

I agree with you on that. Regula is a nice RD. There's a plethora of LD in the system that need ice time. Vlasic, Phillips, Galvas and soon Allan & DEL Mastro. But it's more about taking in 2 years of a $3M cap dump. Frank Seravalli recently wrote an article outline what cap dumps at the TDL are worth. (Link below) admittedly, KD has been a bit more forgiving than what Seravalli suggests, but the Hawks shouldn't be accepting cap dumps for nothing.

I don't think you're paying attention to what Davidson is doing . . . next year, Nolan Allan and Del Mastro (and maybe Kaiser) will all be needing pro contracts, i.e., Rockford Bound. So several of the current Rockford D will be with the big club or out of the Org. They won't be signing more veterans . . . some combo of Regula, Vlasic, Galvas, Roos, Phillips, Mitchell will be with the big club.

Korchinski is a problem. He looks like he needs more development, but he may have done all he could in juniors . . . and he can't go to Rockford. Long shot to make the Hawks, given Davidson's timeline and statements about letting prospects cook, though. Maybe Europe?

Can't have too many ELCs on the big club. They are gonna have to sign veterans, especially at forward, just to reach the floor.

Why, because he was sheltered in the WJC? That doesn't mean anything. He played very well when he was on the ice, Canada just had older more experienced guys they wanted at the top of their D-core. Also, another year in Junior wont hurt him, and if he or CHI thinks he's ready for pro he'd do just fine in the AHL. If CHI weren't tanking this season he probably would've made the NHL roster out of camp for at least a handful of games, because he looked REALLY good at both dev and training camp. If anything he needs more maturity, because he has all the tools. I think the AHL would be the perfect place to develop that maturity. I just think calling him a "problem" is a stretch.

Good point on Myers, I can definitely see that happening.
