Make the 4th a guaranteed 3rd and swap Blackwell to Lafferty?

I think this proposed deal makes a tonne of sesne for both teams also.

My concern is McCabe injury history. The type.of guy Edmonton needs yes, but I would be super reluctant to move a 2023 given that factor. 2024 absolutely.

And yes, I realize Foegele is a cap dump here, but still.......

Jake McCabe is not worth a first round pick in the NHL draft. To be honest from what I’ve seen from him in Buffalo and Chicago he isn’t worth a conditional seventh.

He’s an ineffective puck mover and he isn’t a great defender.

Oh, c'mon. Why wouldn't a team drop a 1st for a second pairing defenseman on the worst team in the league with zero playoff experience?

Apparently you haven't watched him much in Chicago because that's a horrible take

He's a very good defender, on a terrible team he's the only one with a positive +/-, which normally I wouldn't put much weight into but if you watch every game you will see why. A late first is not that valuable for a 2nd pairing good defender with term.

I'm confused by the wording there, but I'm pretty sure you intended it to be a given. But, does that mean that CHI would receive EDM's 2024 1st and the 2023 3rd instead, or ONLY the 2023 3rd?

No playoff experience didn't seem to effect Hainsey at all.

How much did the Penguins pay for Hainsey? Not to mention that Hainsey was a better defenseman playing on a fringe playoff team. Not the worst

So it really matters the team the guy comes from??

Idk what Pittsburgh paid for Hainsey but he was likely a rental, McCabe has term which adds value.

Hainsey was #3 behind Faulk and Slavin(with Pesce and Hanifin on the team). So yeah it does matter what team he came from. PIT paid a 2nd and a career minor leaguer for him. McCabe is #4 behind Seth Jones, Jack Johnson(lol) and Connor Murphy.
McCabe isn't an upgrade on Nurse or Kulak. If the want to add a LD at the expense of a 1st and putting Broberg in the PB they might as well do a package deal for a real upgrade

It really has no bearing what team a player comes from, if he's an upgrade and can help your team then that's all that matters.

No McCabe is not behind Jack Johnson on the Hawks D depth chart, he's #2 or 3 behind Jones, debatable who's higher between him or Murphy but its close.

McCabe is better defensively then both Nurse and Kulak, McCabe would definitely slot in on the Oilers 2nd pair and take some pressure off of Nurse.

You clearly have some irrational dislike for McCabe, pointless to even continue this debate.
