Description

He has contributed pretty much nothing this season and his contract is up soon. The canes have to pay Aho, Necas (RFA), Jarvis (RFA), Pesce, and Skjei next summer. I love the guy but if he doesn’t want to take a hometown discount I could see him being moved as the team looks for another forward to get them over the top. He’s a good player but I don’t think he’s part of the long term core here.

I'd say no because the Canes will not be actively looking to trade him whereas they'd likely be open to moving him for an upgrade.

Its weird how some guys on the Cane are struggling and others are thriving

I wonder if this continues do the Canes just straight up make hockey trades (move money in and out)

I guess its semantics but the upcoming summer could be classified as this summer as well meaning 2024 summer would be next summer.

Basically this. I wouldn't take trading him lightly, but if the opportunity arose to get a legit upgrade in the top 6, he would be the first out the door.

I would look at trading him to make room for a Patches extension IF he continues to struggle

Tuevo is also up the same offseason so trading him because they have to pay those players isn’t the argument to move him. If they want to upgrade 2C maybe they move him to make money work and also not lose too many assets ie use the assets from a Tuevo trade to get the 2C.
